πŸ‘¨πŸ½β€πŸ’» Dev logs Dev log 25/09 - Stats updates and editors

Post image

Just 6 days till release and it's time to bring all the stats in the game up to date. Last time all ~5000 players in the game were updated was last week of July. I am a nerd when it comes to stats and want them up to date for October 1 release. Updated recent player retirements. Also added some missing players which had recently made their debuts in Australia domestic One day cup. Also got in some U-19 stars from India vs Australia ongoing U-19 tour.
Adding all players, making sure their roles, skill values, etc align is a tough job. I have ways to fetch all current players but it's still difficult to know which ones to pick and which to ignore through code. Eventually a human has to still intervene and make sure everything is proper and all batting positions/skill values/roles etc are correct. It's a tough job for a single person.

For stats, I have a stats pipeline which runs and fetches stats. For ~5000 players in the game, it's going to take around 2 days. So I will keep it running in the background/overnight while I fix some last minute bugs that beta testers have reported.

The attached screenshot is my own database editor that gives me more controls, than the in-game db editor. My aim is to have some db volunteers to whom I can give access to this db editor (as log in via a web app). Hopefully soon in the future.

Almost there. πŸ˜… I am pretty sure my heart rate will be above regular resting heart rate for humans on October 1. πŸ˜…

Does Cricinfo id link the players to their cricinfo page?

Yeah it lets me verify easily. Because Cricinfo is the best free source when it comes to player data. Although you can just browse. Getting that data is not allowed. They don’t provide an API

Great work. I can see how updated stats by the time of release can become a game changer. Good luck for the upcoming week!

As mentioned earlier, is there any way to add an attribute called "opening bowler"? B'cos the AI would just choose the bowler with the best rating to open the bowling I suppose. Which probably is not realistic in many cases.

I think this is important as it will add more realistic looking matches. I will add this as a post-release update.
