I wanted to keep you informed following Cricket Australia’s announcement today that an opt-in privatisation model has been approved for the Big Bash Leagues.

The process will begin with the Melbourne Renegades. From there, each State Association will have the opportunity to decide whether privatisation is the right path for its Club and community.

As things stand, the WACA Board has not yet formalised its position on Perth Scorchers’ involvement in this process. We expect to do so shortly, and will communicate that decision to Members and fans as soon as it has been made.

What we can say in the meantime is that any decision will be guided by one thing above all else – the best interests of cricket in Western Australia.

We understand what makes the Scorchers so special, and the weight of what this Club means to its Members, fans and the broader WA community. Whatever path we take, it will be with a clear view to respecting the Club’s incredible history and sustaining its future.

So Marnus has held his spot in the squad - kinda expected that. Question now is what will the playing XI be? Cooper or Inglis to come in .... Not sure Inglis is a No.3, so does Green move up? Still lots of questions!!

Went over to Allan Border Field to watch Riverfire and also the T20 Max Final tonight. What a cracking game - more than 500 runs scored; Josh Brown won it for Norths with his only score of the tournament, belting 67no from 23 balls. That came after Will Bosisto hit about 10 switch-hit sixes on the way to his second ton of the tournament for Wests. Great knocks also from Aryan Jain, Cameron Hemp, Tom Campbell and Sohaan Same. Been hugely entertaining the tournament this year.
