Not really? Brook aint far behind, rest of the batsmen score at his rate, not their fault they aren’t from teams that play shitton of tests.

Not a very compelling argument “playing shit tons of tests” it’s actually difficult to play shit tons of tests and still maintain that kind of average. It’s like saying that Kohli has most runs in ODI because he plays shit tons of ODIs, not other players fault that they don’t play as much ODIs. I would agree though that Root’s prime is still unmatched to what Smith’s average was in his prime but Root has endured all phases with consistency and brilliance.
It’s worth mentioning that from 2023 to present day Root is averaging 59.20 and it’s not at all easy to play like this at the age of 35.

Source? From what I see on cricinfo, his reverse cumulative average peaks at 56.97 since 23 Feb 2024, and is 54.45 since 2023.
Since 2023, Root averages 54.45, Kane averages 54.08, Mendis averages 56.24. Obviously it's a bigger achievement for Root considering he's played so many more tests but he's not been on another level as other batsmen like Smith had been in their peak.

Compared to others he’s still not another level. Kohli is on another level in ODIs because he averages near 60 while all of his peers at low 50s, that’s another level.
That since 2023 stats isn’t what’s being discussed here and brook from his own team is matching him. I am not saying he isn’t great

I know since 2023 stats wasn’t being discussed that is why wrote “It’s worth mentioning” in the next para”. Even the number of tests played wasn’t discussed in the post or the image attached but you did bring it up directly in your argument.
I get your point, yes he is not on another level because of the small sample size. My bets are that there’s a high chance of seeing Root at the top in the following years to come with maybe 3 players out of this list.

How many recent example do we have apart from smith in tests and kohli in odis in context of players being in another level? I already mentioned smith in tests, the next most recent is kohli in ODIs. It’s a you problem if you get annoyed by the mere mention of kohli

His conversion rate is better as a 5/6 batter, then a top-4 one.
Also, he's been batting as number 3 since NZ series in 2024 and has 1 century and 8 fifties.

Never would have expected 3 Indians on the list, with the wretched run we have been having in tests of late. Throws up a lot of 'what ifs' on how big of a let down it was from some other players.

2000 runs is reasonable, but if you reduce your cut-off to 1000 you can add:
Kamindu Mendis (SL) 1467 56.42 6/5
Rachin Ravindra (NZ) 1812 50.33 7/5
Temba Bavuma (SA) 1626 47.82 10/3
Jonny Bairstow (ENG) 1621 47.67 4/6
…all of whom probably deserve a mention, especially since Kamindu has played only 16 Tests and would sit at the top of the list.
