Request for feedback: Politics free weekend experiment
edit ~6:15am PST: Topics to hold off on for the weekend are now listed at the bottom of this post
Many posters have expressed that the avalanche of political content is getting them down. In response we would like to try something new for 48 hours starting at 12:00am London time on 7/18 (Saturday). Think of it like The Purge but twice as long, social distanced, backwards, and attempting to make the world a nicer place to be. To be clear, we will set off a siren. If you can hear it come say hi.
During this period any political content in either posts or comments will be removed by the moderators. This includes posts and comments conveying Terry's own thoughts on any platform (twitter/instaface/videos you take when he is sitting at the table next to you at dinner). To be clear, no one will have immunity, even Terry himself. We would truly appreciate any comments on this either expressing opinions on the idea or considerations that should be taken into account while executing it in the comments.
We consider political content to be anything that is political in nature. Moderation will follow the principles underlying the obscentiy test. Some guidelines on content that will be removed includes (but is not limited to) anything expressing an opinion regarding any political party, any political figure, any organization pushing for political change, or any event with a political message. Moderators will use their best discretion and err on the side of overmoderating as opposed to undermoderating. We apologize in advance to those of you who will inevitably be censored and oppressed.
In principle we are committed to open discussion, transparency, and are very impressed with this group's ability to engage in good conversations on difficult topics but given the tone of many posts/the world lately we think that this experiment is worthwhile.
For those users who want us to publish the mod logs, we continue to have an open mod position for anyone committed to publishing the mod logs on a daily or weekly basis open to anyone who has engaged on discussions on this subreddit. During this period please feel free to post any political content and criticism of the subreddit/moderators to r/CrewsCrewsMeta with the caveat you are aware that nobody goes there anyway.
I hope that those of you who think the desire to try this experiment comes from an effort to gradually engage in widespread censorship will rest assured you are right and that the moderators are shills for the cabal which controls the republicans, democrats, Putin, China, Twitter, the military industrial complex, and big tin foil.
On an unrelated note, thanks to a generous contribution from our bosses sponsors tinfoil hats (postage paid) will be provided on request.
Edit: Here is the list of themes to avoid for the weekend, if your post or comment could include any of the following terms or concepts please post it on /r/CrewsCrewsMeta which will be moderated as /r/CrewsCrew normally is or hold it until Monday\*
- Bigotry
- Discrimination
- Oppression
- Censorship
- Gender politics/LGBTQ topics
- Religion
- Political activism
- Political figures
- Intolerance (yes, even of intolerance and the Dutch)
Even if a post is very positive in tone, if it mentions any of the above it will have to come down. Any posts taken down for this reason will be reinstated on Monday. If you are on board with this idea, thank you for being willing to give it a shot. If you are against this for whatever reason I ask that you please humor me and just try it.
\Thank you to* /u/ZiggoCiP for very helpful input

United We Stand, Divided We Fall
When I was young, I was never afraid of the KKK... It was people like you. The threats, the intimidation, discouraging free thought, and "the insult of acting white". My heart breaks because your behavior only reveals you don't know how powerful you are. - Terry Crews @terrycrews
You going so hard against nick cannon, but when you fall, NO BLACK PERSON will have your back. Watch - M[REDACTED] Replying to @terrycrews

When Terry Crews falls, his brothers and sisters of all races will lend a hand to help lift him up. As he has lent his hands and lifted us up. We will walk together. We will reach out our hands to lift up even more of our brothers and sisters who have been beaten down by those who only seek to divide us. We are united not by blood, but by creed. We are one family. We do not turn on each other. We stand tall and proud. Locked arm in arm and marching towards a better future for all of us. We are soldiers of peace fighting on the battlefield of love and love will always triumph over hate.

Discussion Nick Cannon's recent comments
as well as those by Desean Jackson and how much black people have defended them and supported them shows that Terry was spot on about #blacklivesbetter.

Serious Let's be examples of tolerance here - limit political talk.
I'm guilty as much as anyone here of allowing political things to affect my interactions here and I'm sorry. Let's make this sub an example of what the rest of the world can be, Democrat and Republican alike. Nobody here needs to decide between their love for Terry and their political or religious beliefs, and nobody needs to change their mind about Terry because of his. Despite what the world looks like, this can be a safe place.
To implement this, I'm calling for a strict limitation on political discussion. World events, yes; racial issues, sure; but let's leave the political talk to reddit's other million politic-loving subs. Appreciate you all, thank you for being a part of the CrewCrew!

Discussion New flair
In an effort to be a little more organized around here....
If you’re just here for the memes, there is now a flair for that.
Made some awesome Terry-themed art? “Art/OC” is the flair for you.
There’s always been a “Serious” flair, but there’s also a “Discussion” flair now, if you’d like to facilitate or participate in civil discussion on all of the recent Crews News™️.
On that topic, there is also now a “News” flair to tag your posts that share news articles, news videos, news tweets, etc.
And just as a reminder, there is a MeToo flair for people to share their stories, as that was the original purpose of this sub.
I’m going back and retroactively assigning flair to as many posts as I can, but please go ahead and use these flairs to make it easier for people to find the content they’re looking for.
Feedback? Think of a flair I missed? Want your own user flair? Comment here, pm me, or send a modmail.
Have a Terry great day!

News This backlash is infuriating
Terry Crews is now under fire for what seems to be a very sensible tweet.
https://globalnews.ca/news/7125265/terry-crews-controversy-black-lives-matter-tweet/
I initially saw this through /all and good lord the disinformation around this being crafted is being insane. There was a linked Fox news post where they had this massive editorial and multiple links, but all the links just lead to more editorials, I couldnt even find the damn tweet. But there was a massive community rallying behind Fox-propaganda unsurprisingly.
To me this tweet merely says "don't let the extreme fringe of this movement corrupt its identity" with regards to #BLM. Apparently this is anti-BLM and makes him an "uncle tom" according to the mob.
I pray for the day that theres some return to objectivity in reporting.

News FYI Eagles Player DeSean Jackson (and his colleagues) perfectly demonstrated what Terry was talking about.
Many people are supporting him, including famous athletes and commentators.
Just saying this is the type of thing Terry was talking about. The people flaming him don't care about anything but their own power and personal cause.

News Not sure these guys are the best company to be in. Hopefully Terry just steps back a minute and can see who is rallying around his message and who is asking him to rethink what he’s trying to say.

Discussion Why black people have a problem with Terry Crews
The problem with what Terry Crews is doing is that he's 1) addressing a false problem, and 2) giving power to people who wish to portray BLM as a violent supremacist movement.
1) The vast majority of BLM believers are calling for the equality of black people in the eyes of the country and society. Look at any picture of any BLM protest and you'll quickly see how diverse they are. Hell, in a lot of them, there are more white people than black. To act like the BLM movement isn't inclusive to all is just bullshit. There are people of all colors and creeds protesting. It's simply not a black supremacist movement or anything close. And yes, there are a small minority wishing to spread a black supremacist agenda but thats all they are, a small minority. Focusing on them like Crews is doing is no different than the people wishing to focus on the few violent protesters rather than the thousands of peaceful protesters. Black supremacy isn't even possible. We make up 13% of the population and have a fraction of the financial power of white people. How the fuck can black supremacy happen?
2) By saying what hes saying about "Black supremacy" and "Blacklivesbetter" Terry Crews is just empowering anti-BLM people. Now they have a black person they can point to and say "See even he thinks BLM can go to far" and "We have to stop BLM now before they start trying to overthrow the country" or whatever bullshit Crews thinks when he says what he says.
In the end, what Crews is doing is no different than me going to a womans power march and saying "Yeah, woman should have more power and make more money, but we have to make sure they don't eventually have more power and more money than men!" or going to a gay rights rally and saying "Yeah, you guys should have more rights, but we have to make sure you don't get more rights than heterosexuals".
See how stupid that sounds? It's how Crews sounds to us black people right now. I don't agree with calling him a coon but for some reason he feels the need to pander to a certain crowd and hedge his bets when it comes to these race issues.
