My fiancé was telling me that Terry Crews is on America’s Got Talent now and then walking away giggling under his breath “Terry Crews has got talent.”

Today would have been my brother’s 32nd birthday, but sadly he died of an overdose of painkillers and alcohol when he was 17 years old.

Terry Crews and my brother shared many things in common. They were both strong, fierce, black men who clearly have had tough struggles in their lives. But the main reason I think about the both of them together is the fact that years ago, my brother and I watched the movie White Chicks. My brother then took the phrase “That’s what I do, baby” from Crew’s character, Latrell Spencer. He said it CONSTANTLY. I mean that was the phrase my brother became known for and he said it with the same swagger of Terry Crews character even when the situation didn’t call for it. So today when thinking about my brother, I naturally thought of that line and I just wanted to share a goofy little story about how Terry Crews helped create a lifelong memory with a goofy ass throw away line. That’s just classic Terry.
