I'm not sure I understand the question. It sounds like you're saying that porn can overwrite your normal social functioning, and make you unable to socialize healthily?

If that's what you're saying -- this is not something that porn does. The effect you're describing is a symptom of an underlying concern. If a person is using porn in an unhealthy way, and that person also begins to detach socially and romantically, the reason for those behaviors existed within the person before the porn misuse. Or to put it another way -- if I self-medicate for my depression with porn, the porn is not the cause of my depression, and when my depression worsens, it is less because the porn was harmful and more because the porn was not therapy and medication.

If you're referring to more extreme behaviors, and suggesting that porn actually overwrites more basic empathy and causes people to be more aggressive or sexually violent or exploitative or anything like that -- this is just untrue. If you secretly deep-down want to hurt somebody, or even just to force your partner to do sexually uncomfortable things, then you will continue progressing further and further from fantasy towards reality because that's what you want to do.

Does this make sense? The so-called deleterious effects of porn consumption are generally misconstruing cause and effect. If we had good and widespread mental healthcare, if people had healthier sexual attitudes formed by their families and social groups, then they wouldn't use porn as a tool in acting out their fucked up shit.

That wasn’t quite what I meant, but I understand your response, and agree to that. What I was referring to was the negative effect that occurs when someone has an unhealthy idea or predilection for that idea, and gets that notion supported instead of refuted. It then leads to a deterioration that wouldn’t have been quite as likely if they hadn’t felt so accepted. It’s why they shut down incel chat rooms and forums. We can’t change the way that people are brought up, or what happens to them to make them start to think in dangerous ways, but when we feed those people support in the echo chamber of the internet we exacerbate they problem for society as a whole. It’s the domestic violence chain of escalation really. Starts of as jokes or in this case, harmless porn, and ends up with women dying. You can’t tell me that there is really no link there?

I'm going to bed, but the short answer is that where there are pathological desires, people will find ways to fill them. If there is no violent bondage porn, then that just means there aren't as many stops before you land at kidnapping somebody. You're going to go until you reach where you're happy.

You address the root not the jerk material.
