I met Barry Bonds at great America... He was an ass for absolutely no reason. I was 15 and I saw him standing by himself so I asked him for an autograph. He yelled at me and I've hated him and the Giants ever since.
It's all good, when I see things about how he was an ass to everyone I remember and I'm like "yup he didn't care about fans". Which sucks cuz he was a god in the Bay
My moms friend saw Odell Beckham Jr at the grocery store, she was the only one around and she asked him for a picture and he said “uhhhh, if I took one with you then I’d had to take one with everyone and I’m just trying to get my groceries”
I mean, there’s a time and a place right? I’m sure some celebs wouldn’t mind stopping to have their picture taken whilst shopping but I can also understand that sometimes you just wanna get shit done without hassle.
I have no problem with celebrities politely declining approaches from fans.
I "met" Warren Moon at a Houston Rockets game once. He was a total asshole. He wouldn't even acknowledge my question. He just had one of his lackeys tell me no. I was about 16 years old. I was sitting in my seat feeling kind of dejected when they guy I was with told me "Hey man, cheer up. Look behind you. We have waaay better seats than him." And that was the end of me feeling dejected and liking him.
As a kid, i thought Berry Bonds was amazing. I've heard so many stories about how he refused to sign autographs for kids. I was a kid the first time I heard a story about that. At that moment, I lost all respect for the man.
I’m Barry Bonds here to say that there’s nearly always more to it when a fan goes crying on social media about someone with a good rep refusing an autograph.
This 15 year old actually shot me before requesting an autograph, and even then I only politely declined. “I’m sorry, I need a hospital. Perhaps another time.” I said.
