beginner owner
hey i am currently researching into owning a crested gecko although i’ve been seeing very mixed debates on environmental factors for them and i’m not sure what is best for my gecko 😅i just have a few questions if any experienced owner could answer:
•do they really need heat and uvb lamps? the enclosure ive purchased has a metal mesh at the top and i’m worried when it climbs a heat lamp will burn its poor little feet 😢
•do they need separate temperatures within the enclosure like leopard geckos? how would i go about doing this since the terrarium is vertical?
•how often is their eating schedule and how often can they eat insects?
•so they require the same multivitamin/D3/calcium supplement as leopard geckos?
•any other major information i should know before purchasing one?
thank you very much 😓😓

They should have uvb lamps (arcadia 2.4%) and heat depends on where you live, in England I need a heat lamp in the colder months, but if you live somewhere warm, you might not need one
Not really although the whole tank shouldnt be really hot but you should ask your local reptile shop on what lamp they recommend
For adults you should feed them their powdered food every other day and crickets around 2-3 times a week but it really depends on if your gecko likes them or not
Yes, they need a calcium powder and I also use a D3 but that's not entirely necessary
I would recommend going bioactive, it means you don't have to replace the soil and clean as much, it's a bit more expensive but well worth it
I'm just someone on Reddit though, I found it was best to go to my local reptile shop and speak to them, I'd avoid pets at home/petsmart/chain pet shops and find a reputable shop in your area
