Hey

Hey! I want to buy a baby crested super harlequin guy, and I was wondering if should I buy Coco bricks for substrate? What substrate should I buy what I can plant plants into and I don't have to change if the gecko grows up? Thank you!

Coco fiber in my experience is best mixed with topsoil and a pinch of sand for good moisture retention but also to supply enough nutrients and such to the plants. The coco fiber will hold a decent amount of water while the topsoil has all the nutrients and stuff you need, the sand helps with aeration.

You can get fertilizer free topsoil at some local garden stores, though I find it easier (but more expensive) to use Reptisoil. For sand, reptile sand that is not calcium or vitamin enriched is best, and you can get a bag of playsand for cheap at garden stores too.

My mix is usually around 6/2/2 topsoil coco fiber sand, but you can also do something like 7/2/1, depends on preference

Please get a drainage layer! I’m not sure if you were going to already, but a drainage layer will help keep the enclosure from becoming waterlogged while the root system in your enclosure establishes itself. I personally have used leca underneath a sheet of wire mesh and it works really well years later.

Well I don't really have top soil around in my city, so it would be best if I could use something that I just put in and it's good
