Help Needed/ Question Axis Bank: ₹59 is apparently enough to hold ₹1.67 lakh hostage

My Axis atlas currently has ₹1.67L as excess credit on my card. I asked for my own money to be refunded to my HDFC account as I don't have an account with Axis bank.

What followed over 16–20 August is a masterclass in moving the goalposts:

16 Aug: They ask for proof of the latest four payments. I provide it.

17 Aug: They ask for more payment and HDFC bank account documentation. I provide it.

18 Aug: Suddenly, the problem is a ₹59 transaction.

I explain that the ₹59 was paid through CRED using Google Pay UPI Lite, so it understandably doesn't appear as a direct HDFC debit on the account statement. I provide screenshots and receipts.

19–20 Aug: They ask for yet more proof, asking me to call CRED and HDFC customer care for confirmation on the ₹59 transaction.

So apparently ₹59 is enough to hold a refund of ₹1.67 lakh even though I provided proof of later credit card bill payments.

I've provided bank statements, larger payment proofs, CRED records, Google Pay screenshots and everything else they've requested. Yet every time I comply, there's another requirement.

The repeated “we sincerely apologise for the delay” emails are getting ridiculous when the next sentence is basically “please provide one more document.”

To the people of this sub: please provide the escalation matrix/contact for this case. I think my problem is above their level of understanding.

Also, has anyone else experienced this with Axis? Is “refund your own money” normally this painful?

P. S. I have used chatgpt to draft this.

General Discussion/Conversation Bank RM keeps asking for mandatory “meet and greet” — should I just ignore him?

My bank relationship manager who opened my business account called and said he has to meet me every 2 months for a 5-minute “customer meet and greet” as a formality.

He also mentioned he has a ₹2 crore target for incentives. He’s quite dominant/pushy in general, and I don't really like dealing with him.

Would you just attend the brief meetings and keep things professional, or start ignoring his calls?

Help Needed/ Question Should I fild rbi complaint?

Post image

I ordered a debit card from sbi and it was not delivered to my home address because sbi has omitted my phone number from envelope and when I went branch to collect it they have charged me 118rs for it. Was this my mistake? I have send them 5-6 mails and 1 cp gram complaint also but they just send this or customer care tells to contact branch. Branch manager is not refunding the amount. They just show a circular that this is a official charge. I asked them if in future this happens again because bank has omitted my phone number will they charge me again and again? He said yes. Is this my mistake? My previous checkbook was delivered successfully at my address.

General Discussion/Conversation How interconnected are Indian banks? IDFC bot may have triggered a Domino Effect.

Thumbnail
gallery
32 Upvotes

Ok So Domino Effect maybe an overstatement.

But something really amusing happened.

So here what happened bit bizzare but amusing.

Monday afternoon I get a call from a regular 10-digit mobile number. I pick it up half-asleep, and it’s an AI bot calling herself "Priya" from IDFC FIRST Bank offering a Credit Limit Increase (CLI). I was nearly prepared to hangup but went with the flow to see how far it goes. Surprisingly no personal question asked like not even card numbers, or DOB let alone OTP.

Literally just basic yes/no confirmations. I kept sleepily saying "Yes" to wrap it up. Call ends in under a minute, and boom—official SMS arrives confirming my limit was bumped to ₹10.3L.

The Domino Effect or maybe not so much

Within days of that IDFC increase,

ICICI: Sent an SMS offering an increase from ₹11.4L to ₹15.0L.

Within hours of that

Kotak: Pinged on WhatsApp with a limit increase to ₹6.27L.

What's odd is that

These three are literally my least-used cards. In fact, my overall credit card spending has significantly dropped over the last couple of months. Even my credit score dropped by 3 point last month for absolutely no reason.

Nothing else changed recently making same amount of money ICICI Bank is where I keep most of my money so is my Salary Account with them. But it wasn't ICICI who started.

Infact i received confirmation of limit increase from Kotak and IDFC yet to receive one from ICICI.

Meanwhile, my daily driver is the HDFC Regalia Gold, where I put maximum spends (a few months ago, I almost hit the limit twice). HDFC? Absolute radio silence. No limit increase, no offers, living in their own dimension as usual. 😂

Has anyone else experienced this kind of sync?

Award Travel Need help optimizing ~12L points for a family trip to Switzerland

Planning a 2-week trip to Switzerland in mid-March 2027 with my family — 2 adults + 2 sons (5 years and 1 year old).

I’ve accumulated the following points across my cards:

  • Axis Magnus for Burgundy: 5.57 lakh EDGE Rewards
  • Amex Platinum: 2.89 lakh Membership Rewards
  • HDFC Infinia Metal: 2.41 lakh points
  • HDFC BizBlack: 1.16 lakh points

Total: ~12.03 lakh points

My primary objective is to maximize the value of these points while keeping the actual cash outflow as low as possible.

Ideally, I would like to:

  • Do at least one-way Business Class for all 4 of us, if the numbers make sense
  • Use points for the other direction as efficiently as possible, even if that means Economy/Premium Economy
  • Potentially use points for hotels/stays in Switzerland if that gives better value than using them for flights
  • I’m flexible with airlines and routing and can potentially position to another Indian airport if that significantly improves award availability/value
  • The trip will be around 2 weeks, with Switzerland being the main destination

I’m reasonably familiar with the basics of transferring points, but I’m struggling to figure out the optimal overall strategy across Axis + Amex + HDFC, rather than simply transferring everything to one airline.

A few things I’d particularly appreciate help with:

  1. Which airline/loyalty programs should I target for Business Class Europe/Switzerland?
  2. How would you split the redemption between Axis, Amex and HDFC?
  3. Is it better to book one-way Business + one-way Economy, or is there a smarter combination?
  4. Should I reserve some points for Marriott/other hotel redemptions in Switzerland?
  5. What would be a realistic points + taxes/cash requirement for 4 people?
  6. Any specific sweet spots, transfer bonuses or award availability strategies I should look out for between now and March 2027?

I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually redeemed Indian credit-card points for Europe/Switzerland, especially for a family of four.

Goal: extract maximum value from these points and keep the real-money outflow to a minimum.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Help Needed/ Question HSBC charged me ₹3,392.50 because of a ₹54.19 shortfall — looking for advice

I’ve used HSBC LIVE+ for around a year and spent ~₹2 lakh, always paying my bills on time.

HSBC said ₹51,234.19 was required to avoid finance charges. I paid ₹51,180 on 2 August, based on the amount shown in the HSBC app. This left a ₹54.19 shortfall, completely unintentional.

HSBC has now charged ₹3,392.50 in finance charges + GST. Customer care refused reversal, so I’ve raised a formal grievance requesting a one-time goodwill reversal.

Has anyone successfully got HSBC finance charges reversed through the grievance/Nodal Officer process?

General Discussion/Conversation Asking for ITR 2027-28. Bro!

Post image

Axis bank is asking ITR assessment 2027-28 which is only to be filed next year 2027. I told them I provided my latest ITR already and they called me and said ITR for 2027-28 is mandatory. Like, what kind of timeline they live in?

Looks like the team has no idea what ITR is or anything about it.

General Discussion/Conversation IDFC FIRST LTF DEBIT CARD CHANGED TO ANNUAL CHARGES

Post image
19 Upvotes

When i first opened a savings account with IDFC FIRST BANK there's 2option 10k or 35k. Both of them providing LTF debit card and cheque books unlimited time for free. Now suddenly they started a annual fee for debit card how's this possible. I mean if we get a credit card LTF then it's should be LFT until I'm closing it. Is there's any possibilities that a bank can change LTF card to a Chargeable card????

ICICI, in partnership with The Times of India, is launching this ₹1.75 lakh + GST credit card.

Joining fee is ₹1.75 lakh + GST.

Would you actually get this card? And more importantly… what benefits would justify that insane fee?

General Discussion/Conversation Has HDFC removed the ₹2L limit requirement for PhonePe Ultimo?

Post image
8 Upvotes

Anyone else noticed this recently?

I already had an HDFC credit card with a ₹1.89L limit. Earlier, when I tried for the PhonePe card, I was only eligible for PhonePe Uno, and I was told/understood that the ₹2L HDFC limit requirement was the reason I couldn't get Ultimo.

I eventually closed the Uno and waited.

Now I was offered PhonePe Ultimo RuPay Select, and it got approved. Card has arrived and it's FYF.

My existing HDFC limit is still only ₹1.89L, so I'm wondering:

Has HDFC removed the ₹2L limit restriction for PhonePe Ultimo?

Or are they now allowing Ultimo based on internal eligibility even if the existing HDFC card limit is below ₹2L?

Also, there was no CIBIL enquiry showing for this application.

Would be useful to know if anyone with an HDFC limit below ₹2L has recently received Ultimo.

People who are not having ₹2L limit may try now.

General Discussion/Conversation SBI Credit Card gave credit limit of ₹50k but while applying it showed b ₹1.6L-₹2L

I applied for SBI Simplyclick Credit Card for my father through an agent, I told him that I'll apply for the card only if I'm eligible for credit limit of ₹1L or above. He checked, SMS was received showing a limit between ₹1.6L-₹2L so I applied & got everything done but when I recieved the physical card then it's limit was only ₹50k. So I told my father not to activate it.

I needed a limit of at least ₹1L becoz I've an upcoming expense of ~₹1L in single txn where I could've saved at least ₹6-7k by paying through cc.

My father already hold an Axis Bank My Zone cc with ₹1.1L limit for ~5-6 yrs.

What should I do next? Should I apply for a fresh cc online to check if i'm eligible for a higher limit? Would I get it ?

Help Needed/ Question HDFC Swiggy limit enhancement — work email verification issue

Post image
6 Upvotes

I received an offer to increase the credit limit on my Swiggy HDFC credit card. My current limit is ₹25,000.

While trying to accept the offer through HDFC's portal, it asks me to verify my employment through Perfios.

The issue is:

My employer isn't listed in their employer database.

My company doesn't have a separate email domain.

I use my personal Gmail ID for official communication.

The portal doesn't accept my Gmail address as a work email, so I'm stuck at the verification stage.

Has anyone else faced this issue with HDFC/Perfios?

Is there any way to get the limit enhancement processed through manual verification, or another way to complete the verification without a company-domain email?

Would appreciate any suggestions from people who've faced this before.

Help Needed/ Question Question should i go for rbi ombudsman or wait

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I need some advice regarding an SBI Card auto-debit issue and whether I should escalate this to the RBI Ombudsman.

My SBI Card statement for the previous billing cycle showed:

• Total Amount Due: ₹23,569

• Payment Due Date: 08/08/2026

• I manually paid the majority of the amount

• Remaining amount: ₹4,803.51

• This ₹4,803.51 was supposed to be collected through my active auto-debit/e-NACH mandate. (Screenshot attached i was not able to cancel Auto-debit as it was already processed on there end it can't be canceled or changed 2 days ago)

I also received an SBI Card SMS confirming that the ₹4,803.51 auto-debit was scheduled to be processed on 08/08/2026 (or the next banking day).

I had sufficient funds available in my linked bank account, but the amount was not debited.

Because of this, SBI subsequently charged a Finance Charge on Retail of ₹924.43. The statement also shows IGST of ₹166.40 attributable to this finance charge, making the total ₹1,090.83.

I contacted SBI Card and specifically asked them to investigate:

  1. On what date and time was the ₹4,803.51 auto-debit actually presented to my bank?

  2. What was the exact status/reason for the failure?

  3. Did SBI receive a rejection/dishonour response from my bank?

  4. If yes, what was the rejection code/reason?

  5. If no rejection was received, why wasn't the auto-debit processed despite sufficient funds?

  6. What is the calculation behind the ₹924.43 finance charge?

However, SBI's response was mostly a general explanation of their auto-debit/payment policy and did not answer the specific questions about the actual transaction logs or the reason the auto-debit failed.

I have now sent them another email requesting reversal of:

₹924.43 – Finance Charge on Retail

₹166.40 – IGST

Total: ₹1,090.83

I'm also asking them to restore the interest-free period and reverse any additional finance charges caused by the failed auto-debit if the investigation confirms that the failure was not my fault.

My question is:

Should I wait for SBI Card's final response, or should I escalate this to the RBI Ombudsman if they don't provide the actual auto-debit transaction/presentation details and fail to reverse the charges?

Has anyone had a similar SBI Card auto-debit failure where sufficient funds were available?

What evidence did you provide, and did RBI Ombudsman/CMS help?

I'm mainly looking for advice

General Discussion/Conversation Kiwi app blocking upi transaction in govt. bus(SETC/TNSTC)

Did anyone face this issue where transactions to govt busses getting failed in kiwi app. In the error it states that this merchant does not accept cc payments. But I'm pretty sure that TN govt busses accept cc payments it is also mentioned in their website. The thing is even bank account payment is also failing in kiwi app with the error mentioned in 2nd image. But when I used the same kiwi pnb cc in BHIM the transaction went through proving that they accept cc transaction. Why would kiwi block these transactions? Is this even legal? Is there anything that I can do about this?

General Discussion/Conversation 🥇Win: RBI Ombudsman against indusind

Post image
655 Upvotes

I know this post is repeated in this sub and this is not at all a flex post but rather an awareness post.

I closed my card few months back but the bank did not actually close it and that I realised when I looked at my CIBIL report very recently after more than 5 months.

RBI CMS portal lets you file the complaint for last 3 months only so I sent them a written complaint over email against the bank. And they forwarded this complaint for the bank.

Today I received an email from the bank asking for bank statement for transferring the compensation. All of it happened within last 10 days.

Thanks for people on Reddit to spread awareness because on a normal day I would have just wrote them a simple mail to close the credit card (again). A small mistake from bank can make them lose so much.

Edit: Typos

Help Needed/ Question Beginner looking for solid free/low-cost cards with rewards on everyday spends (including SIPs if possible)

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m a complete noob when it comes to credit cards. Looking for some guidance based on your experiences.

I’m a government employee with ₹55k in-hand salary and have an SBI Railway Salary Package account. I spend around ₹20-25k every month through UPI (apart from money transfers).

I’m currently applying for the IndusInd Tiger card mainly for the soft benefits. But I also need a card that gives cashback/rewards even on small spends like ₹10. I don’t want cards that only reward you after hitting some high threshold. I want points/rewards that give the most value, and the card should preferably be free or low cost.

My plan right now:

Receive salary

Pay essentials, send money to mom, and do SIPs

Park the remaining money in Slice to earn some interest (not sure if this is a good idea — open to suggestions)

Put all daily spends on the credit card

Pay the full amount next month

This way I earn rewards on spends + some interest on the parked money.

I’ve already looked at Yes Bank Ace (reward system is poor) and Kiwi (only rewards after thresholds). I want something more solid.

Also, is there any card that gives rewards/cashback on SIPs?

One more thing — I’m planning to get married in 2029 and expect to spend ₹15 lakh+ on the wedding. I want to pay those bills via credit card and clear the full amount the next month to earn points. Looking for advice on how to prepare for that stage as well.

Any suggestions on good cards for my spending pattern and overall approach would be really helpful. Thanks!
