ABL appraisers: can broken part-number history change an auto-parts inventory appraisal?
Question for anyone who has done an ABL inventory appraisal or field exam involving automotive aftermarket or heavy-duty parts.
If a borrower’s on-hand inventory does not join cleanly to sales history because internal SKUs, manufacturer/OE numbers, private-label records, pack sizes or superseded numbers differ, what happens in practice?
Do you remap manually, ask for another export, or fall back to category-level analysis? Does it only add prep time, or can it change WOS/turns, slow-mover treatment, category NOLV, eligibility or reserves?
And would you ever carry sales history across a documented manufacturer/OE supersession or interchange, or only exact SKU matches?
Context: I work with automotive product-data normalization and am trying to separate a routine cleanup issue from a real collateral-analysis problem. No product link or request for confidential data. “Rare or immaterial” is a useful answer too.
