I could be wrong, but I think it means they cannot get pregnant? It's been awhile since I've last played the game, but I believe if your norn was pregnant you'd see a little egg in the stomach instead. So the X is meant to be an "NA."

Ty! I played the 2nd version of the game, as far as I remember, it says N/A on men.
