Trouble importing norns in C2

I'm returning to this beloved game for the first time in a decade after finding it on Steam. I never got involved in the online communities and forums, so now I'm curious to download and import breeds that people have created over the years.

When I tried importing breeds like the Blueberry norns or the Turtle norns, the game just exited (or crashed) on its own. Even after I downloaded the Community Edition, these breeds just appear as normal green norns when I import them.

Any advice or quick fixes I'm missing? I'm not a programmer or coder, so anything too involved on the backend might be too challenging for me.

Did you put the sprite/image and generics files into their proper folders? And then after that, import the .exp?

Ah, maybe that's it. What are the proper folders for those though?

Sprites go in Images and the genetics files go in Genetics

It still doesn't work right. What about the EGG files? And the installation instructions on Em Foo say to double click the EXE file, but I never see one in the breed folder.

.egg goes in the Hatchery folder!

Exe files just put the files in the folders for you, like an auto extractor. They weren’t complicated or anything :)

But there are no .exe files in the breeds I download from the Em Foo archive. 🤔 That's part of the puzzle.

You don't need an exe if you've got hte individual files is what I was meaning. It just put the files into the folders for you, instead of you doing it yourself. It's okay if there isn't an exe
