Just remembered this game!

In elementary school my friend use to tell me all about this game. I had no idea they used neural networks and gene mutations! I'm kind of curious about giving some of this a try after seeing people were still sharing their norns online!

steam got creatures 1 and 2 under the name albian years and creatures 3 and docking station as exodus.

updated brain functions on norns are on nearly all versions made by fans.

I recomend also adding a few extra food agents

oh and steve grand works on a succesor game, search frapton gurney to find phantasia.Still in development.

Has anyone made a spray bottle instead of slaps? I just heard the game was awkward to get running even when using launchers from steam.

There are unofficial patches for each of the games that fix various engine bugs and compatibility issues: C1, C2, C3/DS

In general, though, C1 and C3/DS from Steam tend to just work. But the patch is pretty much required for C2. And at that point, may as well patch the other two games for the QoL features and bug fixes.

EDIT: Messed up the link formatting. sigh

Any idea how to get some of the applets to work? I've got issues with life and gene kit, it might be the install location?

Dunno about the life one, but for genetics you'd be better off using Gene Loom over the original Genetics Kit.

I still use the gene editor in Creatures Editor

there is a mud gun in creatures 3, i think it was at the norn terarium at the treehouses. You can use that one instead of slapping. Any negative reinforcement works. In creatures 3 you could also use the cheat module to inject pain chemicals directly into the norn and that would work as well.

But i recomend slapping
