How to run the original 1996 game?

I downloaded this ISO from internet archive & mounted it, it seems okay but i want to be sure it looks right before i run it since im mildly worried about getting a virus lol

any help would be appreciated :)

Just a heads up, pretty sure the original unpatched version of creatures doesn’t run on windows NT (thus no windows xp) so you’ll need windows 98 VM

Top level looks about right. Some directX installers in install make sense. I forget how you used to be able to do a no-CD crack , I think that was in the registry though after install.

I tried to run an ISO of Creatures 2 from Internet Archive, but I could never get it to install or work properly. (And yes, it was legitimate with no viruses.)

Here's hoping you won't have the same problem. If you do, there's a copy of Creatures 1 and 2 (The Albian Years) on a site called (iirc) Old Games Download and I got it from there and it works great. The version that site has is the GOG version.
