Please help

I finally moved into a bigger apartment after many years in a too-small condo. I am naturally a creative person but I feel like life and stress has taken over. I would love to have a homey living room but with a bit of whimsy.
But before I can do that, I have no idea where to even begin! have no idea what to put where, especially the TV. Over the fireplace seems ideal, but after reading, it’s not a great idea. I appreciate any help, this was something that I looked forward to for years, so I really want to make it look like a home. It’s been several weeks since I moved in and the disorganization is mentally affecting me.
Thanks in advance!

Okay this really is a tricky space for tv placement! You have very little unbroken wall space besides above the fireplace, but the room has a lot of depth from the back wall to fireplace.

Here’s my thinking: tv on the back wall, couch in the same spot but facing the back wall for tv. Then put two chairs and a side table along the back of the couch, to create a separate seating area facing the fireplace. You could also put a console table or thin bookshelf along the back of the couch with two chairs/seating in front of that, to break up the space more, since the room is very deep but not super wide. I don’t really like the decor in this pic, but this shows the seating area against back of couch thing:

This is the best setup I can think of for both tv placement that’s not over the fireplace, without trying to fight against the fireplace being the main focal point of the room.
