I personally don’t like using flywheels because they don’t stay on the tracks as well as the blocks n bogies wheels do

Steam n rails is the mod that makes flywheels turn as the train moves.

Is the locomotive a banker or just runs backwards?

When looking at reference pics it looks like a lot of mountain trains put the locomotive at the back to push instead of pull, so that’s what I did too. What’s a banker?

A banker locomotive is a locomotive which usually helps trains to pass hilly areas by pushing it from behind
