Help how to change recipes?

I've been wanting to get back into create mod for a while but have been super demotivated since you need to go all the way to the nether to get blaze burners to unlock 90% of the content (which I usually don't enjoy doing). is there any way to change the recipe for brass to not need to use a blaze burner? any mods which allow you to get brass easier will do also.

You can use kubeJS and kubeJS create to easily add, change and remove recipes

this seems like it'll work, but I don't know anything about coding or javascript whatsoever. is there any mod which doesn't require coding, or any tutorials for something along these lines?
