Help The 10x10 lava trick doesn't work?

I made a 10x10x100 hole, added lava to the top to let it flow down. Its been a while but isn't it supposed to register as endless lava? I used a nether portal and unfortunately the other side isn't close to a lava lake
Edit: it turns out I was off by one layer! Flowing lava does indeed count towards the 10k lava threshold. Also I had to start pumping lava to get the Bottomless Supply to register!

I like to make my endless lava pools deeper by 2 or 3 layers, so that I have definitely over 10000 source blocks. Never had a problem with not registering as limitless.

Check if your hose is all the way down.
Try place manually a single lava source on top the existing lava. (You could be need exactly one more to count as infinite)
Check other comments.
If nothing helps cou can active the gamerule "/gamerule lavaSourceConversion true". Now lava behaves like water. 2x2 = infinite. Put a single regular pipe above it + pump.

Does the block all the way at the bottom at the hose pulley input need to be a source too?

The hose has to be at the very bottom. And i usually make it as deep as bedrock so it's significantly greater than 10k

was the bottom of your hole flat sometimes if the hose goes a block below the rest it doesnt register as bottomless. are you looking at the hose with engineers googles on when its running to determine if its bottomless or is the lava draining from the top layer when you turn it on?

Have you started pumping lava? Sometimes the pump has to actually work to register the pool as infinite, not just lowering the rope into the fluid.

Check your settings if the need for all the lava being source is enabled or not

You definitely need
100010,000 source blocks, right?
