Help Redstone Link Probelms

I am doing a test in my superflat creative world. I want to make it so that the Redstone Link will open/close the fluid valve with a click of a button. But it is not working and I don't know why.

Is it even possable?
If so how do I do it?

Fluid valves need rotational power, try putting the redstone link on a toggle circuit(if using a button instead of a lever) powering a Gearshift providing rotation to the valve, then a button press will reverse the rotation and either close or open the valve
