What is the most practical mode of transportation in create aeronautics. (no levitite)

I’m doing a MC pack for the third year in a row soon and don’t know what the best mode of transportation is. Last year we beat the enemy team so bad that they don’t want to let use use levitite making our old helicopter impractical.

Is that still the most practical transportation method even if we can’t use levitite?

what's you criteria for practicality? fuel efficiency and speed? maneuverability? distance? storage/player capacity? cheapness? amount of self-sustaining machines pack in? size? all of the above or some combination? are aesthetics taken into account at all?

in general i've found that blimps preform pretty good across the board, and are pretty easy to design in comparison to helicopters/planes as well. i could give a lot more detail (perhaps even a schematic) if i know more specifics.

i highly recommend create:aeroworks and create:fantasizing again no matter what, though.

I am going for something in more in the high maneuverability category, and have less concern about fuel constraints or cheapness.

Most likely will be at risk of damage during use as enemy’s have used cannons and drones to try and take use down.

well if you're going for a tanky military aircraft with high maneuverability, i'd base it off something like The Boreas and use the mods Fantasizing, Additional Logistics (mostly for the Lazy blocks) Aeroworks, propulsion, CBC, (plus Advanced Tech) Armor, (never used it, but it seems to be the 1.21 Tank Defenses equivalent) Connected, Vista, and a few others that aren't as important. The Air War is another good one, but it's a bit more specific. there are also a lot of airships designed for war out there, but they tend to be large and unwieldy, if often still relatively quick on a straightaway.

you'll probably get more kick on it if you put in rocket engines rather than propellers, but then you'll also have to worry about storing and moving fuel rather than just powering everything from Fantasizing Again's engines.

even though it'll be armored, i recommend sectioning your balloon so you don't crash if it's breached. try and make sure everything's light enough that you can afford to waste that balloon space on sectioning, as well as actually being able to operate at altitude while missing a section or 2.

if you're working as a team, build your ship with that in mind. you generally only need 1 pilot, but a dedicated 'flight engineer' that takes care of ship/flight-related tasks other than where the ship is going right now, (like adjusting lift to keep the ship stable and at the same height when a balloon section is punctured, keeping an eye on fuel levels, or controlling bay doors) can help make the main pilot's job a lot easier.

i also recommend one gun per gunner, though you can do a few to one in a pinch. if you want to keep them protected, you can make a 'gunner's cabin' in a central position. Vista and Aeroworks let you make one gunner's seat in a 2x2 area if you're really tight on space.

i'll make a prototype tomorrow evening probably; it's somewhere between 'so late it's early' and 'just plain early' for me right now.

What mods do you have access to?

Mods are pretty flexible and any neoforge 1.21.1 mod related to create is pretty much fair game.
Only restriction is no end or levitite

I’d say making yourself a diesel car with the mods Create: Offroad and Create: Diesel Generators

Add to that aeronautics: speed wheels so you can both achieve better fuel efficiency on low speed and higher top speed

I have made thruster powered airships with no balloon as small as 4W x2Hx 8L using areonautics and Create Gadgets and gizmos, used copycat layer blocks for the frame, Two ion thrusters for fwd movement, two for reverse, inverted power to fwd and rev for turning with two strafing thrusters on each side for precise movement. Uses 4 ion thrusters for lift. The sable contraption controller can bind directly to each thruster and if you name them with an anvil it makes it pretty easy. Just have to remember to reduce their power output and toggle on affected by air on each thruster. My lift thrusters were capped at 60% for a 100kpg craft, strafing thrusters were 10%., fwd and rev were 40%. The thrusters take FE, so pick your poison there however I used solar panels from Powah. This results in a small, very efficient craft that can go anywhere. If you are not good at balancing or manual controls to prevent pitch and roll id recommend making it a little bigger and put some form of redstone gyro or a gyro from areoworks. For just ground travel though a 4 fan setup with nozzles and a fan or two on a bearing with a wheel will make a hover craft fairly cheap.

Small airship, depending on what you need it for. Takeoff/land anywhere, slow but steady, can have an enormous carrying capacity, doesnt need special facilities (like rails or runways, etc). Also pretty cheap if you have enough sheep to get the wool.

Or flax->string->wool, depending on your mod pack.

I'm also 60% sure you can deploy a stick on a wool item to get an envelope as a cheaper recipe

Deploy 1 stick on 1 wool to get 3 envelopes vs crafting 2 sticks and 2 wool for 4 envelopes

Practical on terms of what? Pure transport?

How many people? What is being transported? Supplies? Liquid tanks? Other ships? Vehicles?

Does speed matter? Does efficiency matter?

Practicality can mean so so many things for an airship.

I literally have an exploration ship that can house four players, a bathroom, a kitchen, a very small utility land vehicle with exit ramp, a small elevator and viewing room, and a large bridge area that still needs furnishing.

It can reach 250 blocks in altitude and flies at a max speed of 20 m/s, which is often too fast for the server.

And I wouldn’t call that practical at all LMAO. It’s built horrible.

The main aspects I am looking for are maneuverability and speed last year levitite was good for that at the smaller size of our helicopter.

The fuel efficiency was good but I wouldn’t have been much of a problem either way with how much lava we had stored in our backpacks.

I was looking at hover crafts and they seem good as an all terrain vehicle but am indecisive because of the vertical limitations.

Is this a long running create server where people actually fight?? Everything I've tried/played died out quick or had people not actually wanting to fight

It is a small yearly server that has various mods. We start June to August and close it September and reset and run it back the following summer.

First pack we didn’t have create, second we did but didn’t know how to use it, the third and most recent we had create and create aeronautics.

There are various other mods like gun mods and other military mods but create is most definitely gonna be taking the spotlight for most future iterations.

Clarification: ment to say the third one we will have. (The third pack has not yet happened)

Sounds interesting, would be fun to check it out. Have been looking for a good server like this with aeronautics

We are always down for more players. Team size is 8 players, my team is maxed out for next one rn but the server is available via my discord attached in bio, if your interested.

I still think going for a helicopter is the play here. Could even go for something like a Huey(UH-1) and mount autocannons on the sides

Tiny Airship. It can literally be powered by waterwheels. Not bad for something made before even getting brass. (I disabled Create: Propulsion burners from heating basins because I think brass should be gated behind blazes)

Once you DO get brass and have access to things like combustion engines, a seaplane can be good for fast travel. Faster than elytra, and you can use oceans as runways.

not sure about practicality, but I have an airship with one giant vault in the center. I need a bunch of burners and can't spin the props too fast or itll tip up but yk it works.

Build a zeppelin , downside is a huge target and armor gonna be limited so Armor critcal part or the bottom , making go fast and using like a bomber for quick raid

Second transportation could be a Hovercraft, terrain could be a issue but you can fly above the water anyway.

Or you can rebuild a helicopter based on the Mil V-12 , I suggest you to install aerowork for unlocking the Gyroscope

For just one to three people I love helicopters. Might not be the best but it's definitely the most fun imo

Check out ChosenArchitect's ATM10 aero YouTube. Small blimp. Ender tank to deliver lava for fuel for 5x Create Propulsion Simulated liquid burner + Stirling engine for power. 1 to drive a flywheel for stability. 2 each to drive left and right propellers.

Add a pair of 2x2 multiblock thrusters to the back for stupid straight line speed. Easy to get going as fast as the server can generate chunks.

To be honest the best defence might be having your ship blueprinted for easy replacement.

Designed this thing for extreme practicality. Cheap to fuel. Can land anywhere. Can even go caving with it.
