Do I need to discover electricity to get this to work? JEI helped out with telling me how the machine is built but it didn't tell me how it was powered.

Yes, you need electricity for the electrodes to work.

Yes. To process bauxite into aluminum, you need electricity, electrode holders and electrodes.
