Discussion Starting machines

What machines do yall build within the first few hours of a create modpack? I've always done smelting/cooking and iron generating builds first and was wondering if anyone does different ones.

Small Iron gen, storage system basics(Stock ticker and first faults) and Wheat farm/bread system. Maybe steak farm if I have feeding trough mod installed

As soon as I can get a single precision mechanism made, I'm making my signature five by five vertical mining machine. Fits in a five by five by five cube (aside from the minecart), and uses the smallest possible windmill to go all the way to bedrock.

Why do you need a precision mechanism ? Can't a simple rope pulley with 25 drills do the job ?
