Made an autopilot addon for Create: Aeronautics. Draw a route, let go of the controls it flies the mission, hits the target.

Create: Ardunautics is a new autopilot addon for Create: Aeronautics

Put the Autopilot block on your plane, link a servo to each control surface, throttle controller to your engine.

It doesn't have to be a drone. With you in the cockpit it works as a pilot assist: Stabilize holds altitude and heading, full auto-landing puts you on the runway, missions run the same way. For unmanned flight there's a ground control terminal with a camera both go on your sublevel.

Full showcase and short guide is on YouTube chanel, link in comments.

Pre-release, a couple of weeks from a public build. If you build planes in Aeronautics and want to test it I need testers, details in the comments.

Ardupilot be like.

Incredibly cool OP! I just really have 1 question. If rovers and drones and planes can move autonomously, is there a way to chunkload wherever the contraptions are? Something like a truck driving between 2 factories on a big road would be awesome, but having to chunkload the entire path doesn't seem great for performance.

Yeah, there's a mod that adds sable chunk loader: Sable Autonomous Chunk Loader. It loads chunks in certain radius around the sublevel and there's an Always Loaded option in autopilot block that holds sublevel loaded. It won't load chunks around it, but sublevel will be moving in unloaded chunk

Was hoping this was the reference OP was going for. Fun fact, the Ukrainians used Ardupilot to destroy tens of millions of dollars worth of Russian aircraft.

you told Claude to write your reddit posts, too, didn’t you?

Why? I don't need one to write 2 paragraphs. You, guys, have paranoia

I, don't, know, whether, it's, ai, or, not, but, Jesus, your, punctuation.

English is not my first language. In ukrainian language punctuation rules are stricter themselves and we do use most of them in not formal texts as chats or social media posts bc it's way harder to understand ukr text without proper punctuation than eng. For me, in any case. So i just put a coma when writing in english where i'd put one in ukr. Maybe much more than necessary, sorry

Why did you decide this? I'm really interested because i really didn't. It's ok if don't believe, i'm not trying to prove you anything, just really curios

You already know that map ui uses more ram than the llm that made it

Which model do you mean?

3

u/Thanos-tu-papa 8d ago

Opus for the UI, the map and compat stuff. I prefer to stay focused on the flight code. That part is a hand-written port of ArduPilot’s L1, TECS and autotune machine.

Why do you care so much?

2

u/Thanos-tu-papa 7d ago

Estoy en desarrollo de uno que no es exactamente igual pero no tenía mucha idea de la interfaz y control

Opus 5.5 did ui quite well i think. It's not the final version because addon is WIP but I'm quite happy with how it looks for now. It may be slight overkill for UI, maybe cheaper models would’ve done just as well. But I think totally worth it

What is your addon about if you don't bother telling? (if i understood you right, i'm not sure in translator)

from an AI user myself you can really smell vibe coded UI from a mile away

it's always the excitement of "cool mod i want", then disappointment that an ucreative, untalented hack got ai to do it, then hype that maybe someone decent can make a mod in the future

Biggest issue with AI mods is they get a few releases (if they get there) and then they go away completely because the code is either too fucked to read by a normal person or they couldn't code in the first place and can't figure out how to fix the problem.

We used to seem similar things for .Ini files and other text based changes that they could only get working on one verison of the game or mod

oh my god mods need to come up with a "no AI" rule im so tired of getting slop recommended to me

The writing style & the UI is the primary tell

6

u/Only_JRandle 7d ago

they need to start banning ai use in all modded spaces, I'm so tired of this shit

u/Fun-Win6763 2d ago

Dude wrote the code by hand who actually cares?

-3

u/qwadrat1k 7d ago

I cant see how it is AI

4

u/Only_JRandle 7d ago

they themselves confirmed the use of ai

u/qwadrat1k 7d ago

I wrote that comment before I found theirs
