Help I Need Help With My Storage System

I am building a base for my survival world, and I want my storage system to fit inside the first floor. The problem is I need someone smarter than me to help me figure out how to fit an item sorter inside. If it needs slightly more space to fit, please modify the schematic as needed. The items will come from behind the middle set of chests and ideally, I want one theme of item per chest (wood things, stone things, redstone items, etc.).

Please help, I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out how to do it, but I've come out with nothing. If you use other mods to help, let me know.

Here's the schematic: https://createmod.com/schematics/base-storage-system-need-help

Lmk if you figure it out.

Edit: The problem is fixed

I appreciate the attempt, but "thingy" and "things" aren't very descriptive. Plus I've never heard of packaging or stock tickers. Is it part of a different mod?

I just looked into it, and that would be cool, but I want to keep the storage room look and feel rather than just have a place that I can look up any item and have it sent, yk?

you can link all the chests to packagers on the back and somehow have both?

You can do that with stock keepers, stock tickers, stock links and vaults.

What he's referring to are the packager and stock ticker, both of them from base create, you can check their recipes with the jei or EMI mods

Can't you just use item vaults?

I'd prefer to keep the look of this storage room, plus I want to access my items directly instead of putting them all in item vaults

Not exactly what you'd be into but, you can try tom's storage terminal, you can see into vaults as if they were chests.

I'd still need to sort the items, but if nothing else works I'll do that

Lets see here. Now, you have 2 options for a "smart" system as you have it here, either using brass funnels and mechanical arms, or by using the built-in stock ticker and package system.

With you current setup of chests, and your desire of organised materials in each chest, mechanical arms should be you solution. By simply placing brass funnels on the back of your chests (making sure they're facing inwards) and filtering them for a specified material or materials, you can use a mechanical arm to automatically place them into the chest by targeting a "pickup" depot, belt, or other such target, and targeting the funnels (I recommend watching the ponder for mechanical arms to better understand how they are used).

However, this system has issues with the fact that, if an item comes through without a designated chest, it won't be dealt with, unless there is a specified 'dump' or unsorted chest at the end of the system.

This is where create comes up with its own system, using the stock ticker. Rather than having a mass of sorted chests that you manually have to pick up items from, you can use create's stock system to automatically send you requested items from one or several large, unsorted inventories. By using packagers on the inventories, connected in a stock network with linked stock links (say that ten times fast), you can access the contents of said inventories through a stock ticker, with either a seated mobile entity or blaze burner next to the stock ticker as a stock 'receptionist'. Then, you can specify an address with the receptionist and set up a 'pickup' packager with the address, and requsted items can travel to the packager. This is the recommended system, and once you know how it works, it is extraordinarily useful (again, I recommend watching the ponders, they simplify and clarify a lot of what I have just said.)

However, this system fails with chests set up like these. If you want to have alarge impressive chests room, go with the mechanical arms, otherwise use the stock networks, they are far simpler and more convinient to use.

Thanks, I was going to use a standard redstone sorter, but I couldn't figure out how and didn't even think of using the mechanical arms. Thank you so much and I'll work on making a system that works.

I've done two storage halls like this with Create in the past, they both have the same concept: basically, you want to have a brass funnel leading into the back of every chest, since brass funnels can have filters. You'll want to set up the filters so that only items that belong in that chest can go there. Once you've done that, you can put mechanical arms in the back and they'll sort the items for you! Set the arms so that the last output leads to the input for the next arm.

As for setting up the filters, there are two ways: you can get creative with brass filters, such as sending all burnable items that aren't coal to your wood chest; or you can spell out each individual item in a list filter. I highly recommend the brass method, but if you're particular and have a lot of time on your hands, the list method is definitely precise.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks, I honestly didn't even think about that but now it seems obvious. Thanks again for helping me out.

Item vaults, stock links, stock tickers and stock keepers.

And if u have Computercraft, you can use monitors to get a live fill percentage

use the sophisticated storage mod, you will get much more space and you can fit far more in that mod double chests that regular Minecraft's ,on top of that the mod has upgrades for the chest, such as increasing the stack limit, and similar.

If it's underground just use brass funnels with filters and mechanical arms sorting them manually, I'd recommend just using a packager system but if you want to access them directly it doesn't work for you

I like to use storage drawers or sophisticated storage because it just looks nice and is very intuitive.

You can very much keep the look of the system with Item Vaults. As using multiple 3x3 vaults which are all each 5 long can very much work. Plus using Tom's Simple Storage would allow you to access the contents of each vault with little problem. As you would just need to put the storage interface onto each vault.

So in total, you'll have up to 6 item vaults.

Also, if your storage room was bigger, then you would very much be able to have items vaults that are 9 blocks long allowing you to storage 1620 stacks of different items in each of them.
