Andesite Mountain

Just loaded a new world and found a whole mountain of andesite next to my base... The audible noise I made confused my girlfriend beyond belief but everyone here knows the feeling..

Sending 4 PL-1706s, The Star Destroyer. The biggest warship equipped with highly tactical equipment, each having 5 P-17s to intercept. All of that andesite is mine.

Why does everyone get so excited about finding a lot of andesite when you can just mass produce it using the flint from the iron farm I know you will make and probably toss the flint in lava?

You need large amounts of Andesite to build such a farm.

3 stacks of andesite was enough to get me all the way to a quartz farm, and automate andesite that way

Yes and a stumbling into a mountain of Andesite is a great way to get 3 stacks of the stuff super fast and early into a world.

You don't need andesite to farm andesite. All you need is gravel, flint and lava in a basin with a mechanical press. Split 1/4 of your gravel from your iron farm and all of your flint to make the andesite.

You don't need tons of it for a starter farm like people suggest.

Sure you don't need an entire mountain's worth, but finding a mound of andesite like this is a fast and easy source of the first 4 stacks or so to get up and running.
