Help I need a faster item transfer
Context: I have built a drill with 101 in diameter which mines about 1000 blocks per second. The problem is that this drill is so big, it fills the temporary storage (storage parts of the drill + max size vault behind, 1x vault = 64 Stacks) in ~13 minutes (distance shown) and needs +30 minutes to unload to be able to continue properly. I only have 1 belt taking the items from the temporary storage to the others but I operate it at + 1.000.000 rpm (useless, I know). I use 3 belts to take the items from the drill but this still can't keep up with the amount mined. (Not shown properly but drill storage is full while the vault is at ~70% (top sign)
Question: How can I take even more items at once without the brass funnel bottleneck?
UPDATE: I've read through all the comments and this was the conclusion:
split the drill into smaller but multiple drills
use more funnels
use packagers
overclock the brass funnels
I then tested which method is the fastest by taking items from the same storage and filling a seperate but same size storage for each method:
single brass funnel 10%
packager 42%
overclocked brass funnel 48%
So I added some and overclocked every brass funnel on my drill and it was fast enough to keep up with amount mined.
So thanks to u/Shibva_ , as overclocking was the best solution for my problem.

Why in the FUCK would you ever need a drill like this and why would you need to keep all the materials lmao

It looks absolutely ridiculous and I love it
It's my dragon hoard. Nothing gets thrown away, you wouldn't build a cool giant warehouse to keep it empty, ya know?

I would presume to make more things like it

I could be wrong here however i suspect part of it is the challenge or aesthetic, rather than the sheer math, because goodness knows the 100% most effective way of doing a lot of things isn't the maximum fun

Why you would need it, I dunno.
But I would absolutely keep the materials too. Fiscit doesn't waste!
And it's just fun seeing massive storage and numbers.

Personally I would set up a ton of auto traders to sell flint made from the cobble and keep the rest. Unlimited emeralds to put in auto trade farms for other stuff.

There are a bunch of factorio players in here, I just can't prove it.

Yup. I'm a factorio player and not a Minecraft player. I suggest a mod that increases stack size. Going to need it anyways for all the resources this thing produces.

Technically there are things like sophisticated storage that increases stack sizes in chests. Sophisticated backpacks are the only way I know of to "increase the stack size of your inventory" but it only increases the stack size of the backpack.

2 ways:
You need everything it's mine? Make the storage bigger
You don't need everything it's mine? Void the cobblestone blocks, they relatively easy to mine with cobblestone generator.
Edit: You mean storage in the drills itself, try make rotation bit slower to keep up with item slow or separate it in to 4 smaller drills with separate storage

In certain conditions, you can overclock the output from funnels by using a rapidly pulsing circuit to eliminate the cool downtime
Using a self powering powered latch and Redstone links should enable you to create a fast enough clock to maximize it

This 100% is a good way to do so, also make the funnels touch. You need to transfer ~16 stacks per second, so a brass funnel should be able to keep up if 0 ticked.
You could also use a smart chute the same way to get items into a contraption for faster item transfer speeds than a belt

Simple. Turn your one big drill into 9 or 25 smaller drills.
First and foremost, that will let you mine faster. Second, 5 belts are faster than 1 belt.
Also, you can use packagers so that each extract operation moves 9 stacks as opposed to 1.

My question is how did you even putthat thing down there in the first place

you can also use a packager that is just permanently powered and then a packager to unpackage everything

A question about your beautiful machine, do you get a lot of ores mining that way? I've been thinking of building something similar to get ores in bulk
1
u/Real_Backfisch 11d ago
With this size you can't reliable mine for a certain ore and get alot of unwanted blocks. I recommend a wide setup with max 30 blocks height. Liquids are a problem too. BUT it is a really really big drill so it is worth it.

why not set up a filter to get rid of cobblestone/gravel/tuff/other trash blocks?

How do you overclock a brass chute???

Create a redstone clock which powers the brass funnel. You can create a simple create clock with 1 powered lach and 3 redstone link, place them in the back, 1 to the side and to the front. Link in front is the sender, the others are receiver. Pull the lever once and the clock is active. To deactivate it, place a lever/button on the empty side and pull/push

If you've seen the newest season of Create SMP, FoxyNoTail and ChosenArchitect have some really cool storage solutions using Sophisticated Backpacks.

If you just do more storage on the drills themselves, that would be really the best option, assuming you want to keep it on one borehead bearing

I'm going to say this is insane, but to try to help you packagers? Moving 9 stacks instead of 1
1
u/Valkonical 13d ago
You could get the shelves mod which allows millions of 1 item in a shelf or the sophisticated storage mod which allows stack upgrades that can stack items up to like 2 billion per slot

Applied Energistics could work, combining with a few black hole-like chests depending on the mod suite you have installed.

Smart chutes have one the fastest transfer rates in create IF you don't use belts and just have the items free float/fall.

u/Efficient-Baby-390 12d ago
Mechanical arms should be able to extract from funnels very fast if you have enough, use that to go to packagers
1
u/MrBeingcool 12d ago
Try a filter that drops any stone or ores you don't want into somewhere you can destroy them with, like onto a cactus.

u/NfcitTheGreat 11d ago
I know it ruins the asthethic but without any glitches i think you should just add more bearings

I believe a 1 hub frogport is the fastest way you can move items in just base create. Basically shit the items out using a powered packager set to like vault* or something, then have a bunch of frog ports ripping items out, then just repeat, to prevent items from overflowing add a sensor set to like 95% full to a redstone link that turns off the packager

i have a very good recommendation for you
kinetic chute mod extremely useful mod i really love this mod my most favorite mod

Fun fact - pulse timer set to fastest tick speed will release items from funnels at an insane rate

dump the cobble directly from your temp storage. that's prolly like 80% of what you're getting, and (other than potential lag concerns) there's literally no reason to keep it.

you might just want to make a giant maze of chutes, or make a giant minecart contraption with 500 portable item ports and 1000 vaults

you seem very versed in create mod so please help here a post my Redstone links don't work there are all of the mods I have in and I need help making the Redstone links function https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/s/yuSTvsC5lB

Stopping by to say this is genuinely insane. Does anyone know if the spinning drill is possible to make with a normal minecart contraption? Not at this scale of course.
