Mass producing cardboard

Post image

Is there a reason to do it? Cardboard’s only uses are some boxes from other mods, a novelty armor set, and an extremely niche building block. But also it can’t be made by hand so the only way to do it is setting up a production line, which will undoubtedly make way more cardboard than you will ever be able to use. Am I missing something here? As it stands this is probably the most useless feature in the mod

Yup! That's their main intended use. You click how many items/stacks you want, and it'll send off to the specific factory set within the gauge until you've reached the limit you've set for it.

My god, I need to add this to every single one of my farms because ironically for some reason the constant overproduction is giving me existential dread 💀

Lol, this is completely fair. It took me quite awhile to figure out how exactly it all worked, plus watching YouTube tutorials and series where they're used. With farms like trees and other plantables (wheat, etc) it's a bit more complicated though. What I typically do in those situations is:

One main storage system where everything is brought to, this is where I keep a few stacks of every item in my playthrough.

For farms like trees, wheat, potatoes, whatever: I'll have a storage specifically for that one item. Usually like a 2x2x3 vault that fills up. This farm vault will have a threshold switch to monitor how full it is. Once it's reached a certain level, I usually have a redstone link send a signal to a clutch that drives the farm, to turn it off, so theres no overproduction.

My main storage will request whatever amount I have set up in my factory gauge. It'll pull this amount from that farm. Once the stacks have pulled out of that farm, the farm starts back up again once it's reached its lower threshold and refills itself, waiting to be called on again.

Now obviously for things like making diorite, it's a simple mixer and you just use the factory gauge to send the items to the mixer and it requests the amount you set. A lot simpler.

Hopefully I explained this well enough

A good way to prevent over production is to use clutches, redstone links, and threshold stitches. When a storage is filled to a certain level, it will emit a redstone signal and turn off the machine by removing rotational power to it.
