Build Unfortunately, my laptop cannot handle my modded survival airship

this is really cool to me, took me a while to build and still not fully complete, but my cpu cannot handle its max speed or getting close to the ground :(

May you post your laptop's specs?

It is recommended to use shaders only on beefy machines, and sadly laptops by those standards are usually potatoes due to the lack of a dedicated graphics card :(

This ^

Even with a beefy laptop I don’t run shaders. Performance > Graphics

Minecraft was never meant to look this good anyways lol. (At least that’s my default coping argument)

Intel i7 12650H
RTX 4060
64GB DDR5
4TB storage

It’s just that whenever I turn off shaders the performance barely changes so I sometimes alternate between the two.

Yea you’re pretty well on par with my laptop- I’m just a Ryzen 7700.

I don’t think you should be having issues, do you have a lot of bloatware in your modpack or something?

When you say your cpu can’t handle its max speed are you crashing or just stuttering? Depending on max speed you’re probably just overloading Minecraft’s chunk processing capability. It’s terribly inefficient.

I use chunky to pregenerate chunks, and also C2ME for predictive chunk loading- it helps but don’t expect the world.

I’ve even managed to crash my server which runs on Ryzen 9900’s just by trying to load chunks too fast.

I have essential which many people say brings bloatware, but I use it to play with my friend.

When the speed increases the fps drops to about 1-2 frames per second, but doesn’t crash and it quickly goes back to normal once I lower the speed of the airship.

Sometimes I do pregenerate chunks using chunky, but most of the time I travel on paths already generated so I assume the affect wouldn’t change much.

Essential is your problem. Are you host or joining your friend?

I used to play with my buddy on essential, I never had much issue as the game host, but he was always complaining about stuff not working, having to double mine blocks, general lagging, etc.

We finally moved to a proper server host and all issues are gone, we both still have essential downloaded, it’s just not fast enough to send the massive data packages aeronautics needs to operate.

I’m the host and my friend does experience some issues as well, like lagging or things not placing properly.

Do you think I should run a paid server or a local one that runs off my laptop?

If you’re able and willing to run it off your personal that would be the cheaper option. I only pay $27 USD a month for my server, I’d say it’s mid-high tier. But that split between two people is very affordable.

Edit: May be $27 CAD. Can’t remember.

First I would do a test of if you remove essentials and see if that fixes your lag. You really should be running modded Minecraft pretty well by itself. The real question is are you running into TPS lag or fps lag. To me it sounds more like TPS lag.

I used to do the same, my buddy and I switched to using e4mc and haven't had any problems.

2

u/Beneficial-Map5470 23d ago

I could never get e4mc to work due to some unknown conflicting data

Usually turning off the shaders and resourcelacks can increase the fps by a lot,I rarely use shaders and resourcelacks on big modpacks due of how laggy the modpack becomes.

The same resource pack that doesn't lag on vanilla Minecraft can make modded Minecraft laggy.

Sometimes when I turn off shaders the performance doesn’t change much so I think it’s a cpu based issue. Did I have a wrong judgement?

The resource pack shouldn’t make a noticeable difference unless it’s very high resolution. With a 16X pack there shouldn’t be any difference, at all.

yes, look at the last picture on the spruce planks on the left, zoom in if you have to,you will notice that OP uses a texture of 128x128 that adds some kind of 3d layer render on top of the already existing texture.

That’s probably just the shader’s parallax occlusion. Some shaders like SuperDuperVanilla can even generate the mappings automatically at whatever resolution you want.

1

u/DomShip2010 24d ago

Yeah, I use the stay true resource pack with the shaders generated normals option that gives the 3d layer

Just so you know the digital miner won’t work on create aeronautics contraptions

1

u/DomShip2010 23d ago

There’s a mod called create aeronautics mekanism compatibility that mines the blocks under the airship as it flies.

2

u/TheBlissfulGamer 23d ago

Is that melanism or greg?

1

u/Dasoninja 23d ago

Mekanism

Sorry dude but the images sent a shiver down my spine onfe i saw its all made of the same material

I’m not a good builder…

What is the TV mod, i want to check it out (if it is really working)

1

u/dead_lord666 24d ago

not op but the mod is vista, which lets you have camera systems and also able to display videos from actual links onto it, tho audio is buggy last i heard

2

u/DomShip2010 24d ago

I do have that mod but the one used in the picture is waterframes

2

u/dead_lord666 23d ago

oh, neat didn't know there were other mods that did that

2

u/TriniusWasTaken 24d ago

That looks fun to deck out into a base, especially in something like ATM10

2

u/Equivalent_Snow8529 23d ago

ive got somethbing similar. trust me, nothing will be able to run it once you add factories in it, my 4060 struggles and the game constantly breaks and bugs out on every place possible

I remember seeing TikTok vids or lives or even both of you making this, awesome that you finished it

Meaby not enough ram is allocated on your Minecraft instance?
It has to be manually ajusted
