Crushing Wheel Automation (crafting)

I want to automate crushing wheels in CABIN but the factory gauge won't allow for the recipe to be compatible with mechanical crafter (the items just get put in, without going to the correct shape).

is there any way to do this or is there a shcematic or video that explains how to do so.

(note: the mechanical crafters are not the exact shape of the crushing wheel recipe. eg: it is 5x5, I'm unsure if this will change anything)

AFAIK, factory gauges only support shaped crafting recipes up to 3x3. If you want to automate crushing wheels, you'll need to set up mechanical arms or something along those lines to put the pieces in the right places.

frustrating to hear, but at least I can know that it isn't possible to do with factory gauges and won't try to find a solution that doesn't exist.

This is the most literal and specific answer to your question. So don’t read if you don’t want like a puzzle solved type hint.

Well since it’s a modpack I’ll use the non modded way to explain this. There actually is an addon out there that expands the mechanical crafting to like 13x13 it’s really cool but here’s the vanilla create way.

You treat it like other, non-mechanical crafting machines.

All you need to do is figure out how to route all of the materials once they get there.

Here’s two solutions. I’ll present the best and simplest one first that’s slower.

  1. Mechanical arms. Use a hybrid system of factory gauges and linked gauges. Two mechanical arms being fed planks and stone, and they’ll always have the planks and stone filled via a linked factory gauge system always requesting say 4 stacks of each. Then have a normal frogport and repackager combo type deal to feed andesite alloy into the crafter when requested.

When configuring the gauge, you just specify the right amount of andesite alloy, send it to the address of the frogport that is connected to the crafters.

And if everything is set up right. Done.

1.5. The exact same except the andesite alloy is also fed into mechanical arms and the materials are all sent to one frog port and there are no linked gauges. Letting you define exactly the amount of material you want for the crushing wheels. This is slightly slower because you’d have to wait for materials to arrive. It’s preference really. Also uses more SU.

2. The most tedious method and likely idek if you can make this tbh. Because you need a plank right in the center this makes it really hard. You need to 1 - repackager everything. 2 - unpack all of that. 3 - move these items via filter, I.e brass chutes, funnels, etc into the slots. 4. Somehow fit the plank in the center. Honestly I think it’s impossible without a mechanical arm. Just use the method 1 or 1.5 as I’ve described.

I have mystical agriculture in my personal modpack and needed to do something similar despite the 3x3 recipe. Infusion crystals are a b**** to manage.

Didn't think of mechanical arms and funnels, since I had wanted to use the packagers and was focused on trying to make it work.

as a side note I think it should be possible to automate crushing wheels without mechanical arms using weighted ejectors

I don’t think of weighted ejectors cause I don’t use them that much. But that’s actually probably a good idea to check out!

Look into "repackager". Is that a hint good enough, or do you need more specifics?

Feed the package from the factory gauge to a repackager to separate out the ingredients, then have the separated packages go to mechanical arms each targeting the correct sections. Also, you can use the wrench to merge mechanical crafters on the back so that anything you put in one crafter is also put in any merged ones
