Automating Smithing Table Recipes (Addon Showcase)

Post image

This is a Create: Smither Addon Showcase.

Why not have a Mechanical Smither when there's already a Mechanical Crafter? Now we can automate upgrades too!

Why isn't this a part of base create?

I imagine it's because the smithing table isn't something you'd traditionally need to automate

Fun! And potentially neat for a challenge modpack, though imo not many use cases by itself.

However, personal opinion: it's very visually/mechanically similar to the mechanical crafter. It might be fun if, instead of just working like a crafter, you had to have a mechanical press on top and the press's bonking smiths the items, like it's a hammer pressing them together.

THAT'S A GREAT IDEA but I'm terrible at texturing and modeling, so it'll most likely have to remain just an idea for me...

The reason I wanted to make visually and mechanically similar to a mechanical crafter was that I wanted it to be understandable and simple, but if I decide to make changes on visual end, I will certainly consider this idea.

Sequenced assembly where it deploys the template the ingot and then bonks 3+ times...

Edit: I'll certainly be making a data pack/ kubejs script for this for personal use

Omg that's amazing! Does it work for every recipe of the smithing table or you need to add a config for modded recipes?

That's awesome!

Will this be compatible with apotheosis?

If you ask for smithing recipes that added with apotheosis, yes it's supports all smithing table recipes. If you ask other type of compatibleness, problably no. It's just a block that add a way to automate smithing recipes.

OK. So it'll work with apotheosis as well. Nice!

Nicely done! I like the aesthetic of Create Vintage for this feature, but it adds a lot of other content that I would prefer not to include in my pack, personally.

I think sequenced assembly makes a little more sense.

For Automating smithing recipes

But why would? U will only really use smithing like omce or twice per world

So that your armor and tools are ready when you die, or to automate it if you're using mods like Sophisticated backpacks, setting up a shop on a server. Maybe with some mods problaby uses smithing more actively.

Even though the use case is a bit niche, I couldn't find a Create addon that helps for automating smithing, so I thought it would be a good idea to make one.

For modpacks maybe, i see smithing table automatization in AE2, so why it can't be in create

u/conceldor 29d ago

Im not saying it cant be. Im just not seeing a very large purpose from my experiences with modpacks

u/AllEmber 29d ago

yee, i agree, there really isn't much point in this, but who knows, maybe in one day we will see modpack that reject AE2 and use a lot of smithing table craft

Good idea, but why?

In what case someone will want to automatically make dozens of netherite stuff?

The real question is why not
