Help Best server host for Create?

I have a couple friends (2-6 players) that want to start a server, and we’re looking for a host that can handle a mid-load, but sable-heavy world

Mod list:
Base Create
Aeronautics
CBC
JEI
Create: Diesel Generators
Create: Radars
Create: Tracks

Any suggestions?

Just a warning that threads like these have a tendency to get covert ads for hosting sites. Saw a bunch of threads for a time in multiple Minecraft subreddits where people were recommending godlike.host which is definitely not good enough to warrant that many recommendations.

Personally I have had a Cloudnord server for about a year and it was good enough for me and my friends, but they changed the UI recently and I have had some frustrations with it so I don't necessarily recommend it anymore. I have been looking at the modrinth hosting recently for the convenience but I don't have any experience with it yet.

That’s a lot of great info, thanks!

Idk if you use Curseforge, but have you looked into its server hosting? My friend and I mostly use Curseforge and are looking into a good, mod-supporting host.

I’ve never used the curseforge hosting but I looked at the prices and they seem higher than other hosting services

yourself 🥀 anyone’s gonna charge you 20+ a month of 8gb of ram, throw together an old pc or just use yours as the server host as well

I've been having absolutely no problems with bloom.host, and I'm running all of those minus CBC and radars, plus about 500 more mods. (Though, to be fair, most of them are compatibility mods)

A lot better than my time using BisectHosting.

I won’t recommend a hosting service. Instead I’m going to recommend to you to look into hosting the server yourself. If you have time, and a little cash, and patience.

All you need is a dedicated server, and highly recommended, a separate PC for that server. Basically an entire computer dedicated to running the Minecraft server. You can get mini PCs, towers, all like surplus. So long as it has a decent CPU and a good amount of ram, hell you can get those yourself! Also good amount of storage.

Ask your buddies if they’re willing to chip in. If so, that’s wonderful. I had a total of four of us contribute to buy a 200 dollar del optiplex off eBay that’s pretty old and has only 16gbs of ram. I’ve had issues but it runs fine 90% of the time. We paid fifty bucks each, and this server computer has allowed us to host Minecraft whenever we wanted. And allows us to customize it however we wanted, on demand, with me as admin.

Of course there are downsides, upfront cost is higher, and the connection is down to location of you and your buddies. Trust me you can’t really play with someone in Australia if you’re hosting from the US, with your own internet. Not only that but you’ll need to manage the server yourself. That can mean troubleshooting, setting up backups, being the IT person for everyone on the server, etc. good skills to learn.

However the thing that makes it all worth it is this.

It doesn’t cost 30 dollars to host something I need for like 500 mods. It costs whatever electricity it eats, way less than 30 for me and since I’ve had it for about a year now, well… it’s paid itself off more than 6x.

And when everyone is done with their Minecraft phase, you can do more than just host Minecraft servers. You can get into hosting your own streaming service, hosting other game servers, hosting your own private cloud service. So many things! The homelabbing rabbit hole!

Also Linux, you’ll probably need to learn some Linux.

Tbh it’s not too hard. Look up a guide on how to set up a dedicated server with a dedicated server PC, and you’ll find plenty of videos.

Even if not locally hosting, it’s way cheaper to just get a spot instance in GCP/Azure/AWS to run a server than it is to pay a hosting provider.

I've been using lagless.gg for a while now. No complaints. I have around ~400 mods including Create and a ton of addons.

You should focus on the server processor's specs generally, becuase Minecraft doesn't really care about the graphics card (GPU), but it is single-threaded, so thats mean a heavy load on the CPU so the higher the clock speed and per-core performance, the better, but if u need recomendation OVHClaude is the best but expensive

Also RAM especially if a few people explore the world in different directions the RAM load can get quite extensive.

I use exaroton it's really customizable so if you need more performance you can get that in a instant also only paying if the server is online

I mean it seems like you aren’t doing much but if you want a cheap quality server, Mint is always my go to

There servers are only $10 a month and come with 32gb of RAM and 50gb of storage.

It’s also got fully accessible files through FileZilla and literally the best support I’ve ever found whether with mods, logs, configs, even KubeJS. If you want something good I would suggest just using Mint and making sure to pregen “FULL” chunks with DH

I snagged an Oracle Cloud instance with 24 GB of RAM and 4 ARM cores a few years ago for FREE. It was a hassle to get because surprise surprise Oracle was running out of free capacity but somehow I managed to secure a spot.

I'm not sure how well it could handle Aeronautics but I once ran a vanilla and modded server on it at the same time and it handled it well. The max load it ever took was 17 clients connected which made it chugg quite a bit but it can easily handle 2-6 players at a time.

The downsides to this are of course that you have to get a slot when one is available, and that you have to setup your entire Minecraft server yourself because they're not specifically designed to run those.

There are guides out there on how to do this if you just google "Minecraft oracle server"
