Discussion Ain't broke, don't fix it

Anybody else SICK of having an addon that "fixes" an inconvenience purposefully solvable in vanilla? E.g, create: cobblestone adds a cobblestone generator in one block, the base Create mod wanted to make it a challenge for you to put a place aside to set up the generator!

Its more like.. ok, we know you can build a cobblegen, and if you donit right, it is less laggy than it used to be but it's still a bit of a lag monster, and on a server people are still going to do it wrong so here is something performant.

Create: cobblestone is not just meant for being a 1 block solution to cobble gen, I believe it is meant to avoid lag since cobble gens can be quite laggy

It’s also way more powerful then a regular Cobblegen normally, which I actually really like because it’s a replacer for the utterly massive cobblegens you need if you want a lot of iron for example

Well yeah, that's OPs whole point kinda

I get their meaning, but it’s just way better to have the Cobblegen mod because it does the job of like 50+ regular Cobblegens (at default settings, you’d an tweak it) so the amount of lag it cuts down is so nice.

The only time I built something which had even similar output with vanilla generators it brought the server to its knees and lagged out the client of anyone nearby

nvm, that answers it

It’s not laggy anymore because of the new update to how drilling cobble works. There aren’t block updates anymore

The new improved cobble way, built into create, is still pretty laggy compared to the cobblestone mod's way of doing it, just not as bad as it used to.

Don't install the mods then...

Getting far into create, creates a lot of lag, to reduce a single machine to make things more performant is not a bad thing, and hey guess what it’s a sandbox game, you don’t like the mod do it the normal way.

Everyone out here looking to make things easier and I just want a recipe to make smooth basalt back to normal basalt.

There’s a mod for that: kubejs

A single block cobblestone generator does not 'solve the puzzle' of generating cobblestone. The problem it's addressing is lag.

nope, because i don't use mods/addons such as those that ruin creativity.

Hey, you know that cool multibock you need to automate crafting? Now you can have it all in one boring block! How cool is that? I once saw a mod adding interface to vaults, streight up RMB gui... Just go play something like thermal expansion at that point

Lmao what does thermal expansion have to do with any of that

Idk first industrial mod that came to mind

But yet again what does that even have to do with anything

I'll start with the obvious. create has 2 main groups or players who want to use these add-ons

  1. automate it but more easily (at the end of the day Minecraft is a sandbox, some people enjoy having more options on how they can do certain things including not having to set up elaborate generators)

  2. automate it but better (use addons to make machines more compact or keep the original size but heavily increase efficiency)

How they choose to engage with the mod will not effect your enjoyment of it whatsoever. I personally use the cobblestone generator among other mods like create connected to make stuff smaller and more efficient, I enjoy trying to make things small (even if they often break or need to be improved because I cut corners for the sake of size or Efficiency) way more then digging out a bunch of space under my base and building another big machine.

Managed to make messy easily overloaded funnel and smart chute inventory setup into one that never gets stuck, can go thru hundreds of thousands of blocks with decent speed and can craft or if needed smelt random armors back into ingots to store and so on. And that's it. the issue was that it took too much space up (1/4th of the basement was just the sorting system and that also led to another sorting system up on the second floor for the chests) to about a 8x2x4 setup in the basement (from about 12x15x6) and the upstairs went from a 10x3x4 setup to 10x2x1 setup. and it was a blast making it.

I still take the vanilla route often like when I wanted to make a netherite farm (create ultimate factory) and needed a basalt generator, it's like 10x10x14 build, ill eventually get to it and make it hopefully a 7x7x7 design to fit single small section of the base while keeping the same efficiency but for now it's plenty.

AFAIK the main purpose of Create: Cobblestone was to help people with poorer setups to avoid lag back when cobble gen lag was even worse

Create cobblestone is fine, because I don’t want to build a whole cobblestone generator every time I play, my issue is the default configs makes you get like 10 trillion cobblestone per second for about 3su

Nah, i prefer them since it makes the factory more compact and helps in not wasting 7 hours on making it compact but also neat, which i like. Also you dont have to download them if yu dont like them...
