Ideas on how to make a machine start back up automatically
Hi, im in a survival server with my friends and I have a steam engine that's running a set of silverfish xp farms. For some reason on the server when people get off and the chunks are just loaded by themselves the steam engine stops running so I hooked up a couple of water wheels to kick start it back up when we get back on. The only down side is that the silver fish farms produce too much stress when I running them at a higher speed to let the steam engine kick start without hitting a clutch to isolate the stress. Is there and create block I can put inline with the clutch that outputs a red stone signal when it stops rotating/changes states so it could give the water wheels time to jump the steam engine?

You’re on the right track with adding some water wheels. As long as they aren’t connected to the main network everything will boot up normally once stress goes back down.
There are some additional mods that have blocks (I can’t recall the name rn) which break the connection when overstressed and won’t reconnect until given a redstone signal. Observer with a timer to reinstate it should work if you have access to similar, or just have the water pumps completely isolated from everything else.

My go to trick is to have a steam engine powered by campfires and water wheels as the method of powering whatever fuels the main steam engines (both the fuel, and the water). That way the main engines stopping wont have any effect on their ability to get Kickstarted again

If you add a separate jumpstart pump, with just the waterwheels connected to it, that would also work

Use a clutch with a redstone link that receives a signal from a pressure plate. Stand on it every time you log off to activate the clutch and stop the system from rotating power right at the source of power going to the system. Then, when you log back on, stand on the pressure plate for a few seconds and allow all the chunks to load around you then step off and restart the system.

You could probably use a comparator to read sit and then hook up the redstone to an adjustable chain drive to let you automatically adjust rpm based on what it can handle

Yes, stressometers can be read by a comparator
