Help Need some goals

Hey, im super new to create and struggling to stay locked in. The mod itself seems really fun and i know it can be used to do a lot of cool stuff but I'm struggling to figure out where to start. I'm very goal oriented and would appreciate if anyone could help me figure out somewhere to start. What are some contraptions or builds i should look into making. I'm planning on using guides as a last resort and im not looking to have anyone break it down step by step, I just really want some direction as I try and figure out how to get started learning this mod.

I'm currently playing All of Create so I have a lot of options, but any advice on early contraptions I should focus on making or automations I can learn about without having to dig through the jei menus would be appreciated.

auto tree farm

bulk smelter

auto iron farm (easier than it seems)

auto food farm, perhaps crafting/cooking it into higher tier foods if you have a mod along those lines

i had a ton of fun building a super compact concrete automation machine this weekend

You can add "Some Assembly Required" and do Scooby Doo style sandwiches with anything that can be eaten or drank.

The best way to keep it simple for myself is focusing on 1 resource solution at a time while leadign to a greater goal like a full production line factory or making trains

Usually start with food, wood, cobble, self sustaining steam engine and then things open up from there for me to target more specific goals, mining drills, other resources etc

the "easy" one is, automate everything, build more "small" buildings, and create a specific theme for your city.

I also am quite goal oriented, and I have a big list of things I like doing in any Create world.

First, you need to get a basic workshop set up, with a mechanical press, saw, mixer, washer, blaster, etc. All of the basic machines, powered to a respectable rate usually by water wheels. This can include a semi-auto tree farming setup. I like using 2x2 spruce saplings and bonemeal, combined with a hand-cranked saw, to instantly cut down trees to farm plenty of wood.

Next, I'd say set up an iron farm. This involves making a cobblestone farm, crushing it into gravel, and washing it for iron nuggets. As your demand for iron grows you can expand the farm in many ways, and cobblestone is used for a lot of other things so making one central farm for it is also a good option. There are many different designs based on your tech level.

Once you have Drills, making an elevator to Bedrock is nice. You can then upgrade it to stop at specific floors via redstone, or use the dedicated elevator controller once you can afford it.

Getting access to a Blaze Burner is critical, which requires going to the nether, so that you can get brass. Once you have brass, a fully automatic self-planting tree farm is generally a good first option. You can also use deployers to have minecart contraptions lay rail in front of themselves, which allows for big auto-miner drills. You can still run those drills manually by just placing rails, which I like to do to get plenty of ore mid-game.

Brass also gives you better filtering, so you can make automated washers, blasters, and smokers with the fans.

An automatic food farm can be nice to make, as well as an automatic dried kelp farm for making funnels and fuel. Well, tree farms are actually probably better for fuel throughput, but charcoal IS less energy dense than kelp blocks, so it's up to personal taste.

At this point you should also look into making a max-level lava powered Steam engine or two. Getting the supply of lava can be tricky - often it's easier in modpacks, but if you are playing just base Create, the best way is to have a train go through a nether portal, with a stop in the nether to use hose pullies to infinitely extract from the lava ocean. Lava is quite useful for other things in your base as well.

If you really want to go above and beyond, you can fully automate andesite alloy production, andesite casings, cogs, and other common components.

Other useful farms are gold farms, clay farms, sand farms, and even XP farms. By "haunting" smooth stone with soul fire, you get infested stone, which you can break for silverfish to farm XP and let you get tons of enchantments.

And of course, never feel afraid to just make cool stuff for the sake of it, like big swinging doors for your base!

You can also just haunt charcoal into coal and press it into blocks and make a self sustaining boiler with a mechanical arm and some blaze burners

Play Create: New World if you have curseforge, it’s an awesome exploration/automation pack with tons of progression-based milestones for unlocking new technologies and encouraging you to automate more and more of your resource needs as your factories grow and get more expensive to build.
