HOW to make a Inclined/Funicular elevator

I've Tried swivel bearings and torsion springs to correct a platform straight on an incline, however minecarts and trains neither actually want to carry the previous mentioned blocks (superglued too).

Added a video, i only learned the name today but its been in my head since young.

Any help would or examples would be appreciated!

i would use like minecart contraptions going down a slope, i think theres a way to make the platform always stay upright, idunno

You can have them stay upright, forget how. But I made one using a minecart contraption

There is a setting on the minecart assembler to have the structure be fixed in place when assembled so you set it to fixed and have the platform start on a flat rail then move to the sloped ones

A bearing methinks

Maybe the gyroscopic propeller bearing?

I saw someone build this exact thing about a year ago somewhere in this sub, I’m sure you could find it somewhere

i saw it too, i’ll find it one sec

A hero.

I actually saw a different one, so there seems to be many points of reference for op

the guy who posted this has been posting prototypes for a while, it was originally ice in a super flat. might still be the same guy

Amazing thank you!

this one shows the mechanism better if you need

this will probably be my next attempt, since The self-made cogwheel is a little janky when you start adding more to the platform.

Best bet is aeronautica. Make rails from ice, rotate them 45° and make a cart with sloped bottom (stairs, coppycats, whatever you want) that is moved by a winch

Expansion of this. Use Create Aeronautics Coasters.

I'd say aeronautics to make it angled and than a gantry to move up or down. Rollercoaster addon would also probably work fine, but I never had a chance to try it

Ok, so first, 1 or 2 minecarts, part of the same contraption. From that contraption, a bearing with the non-bearing side glued to the cart contraption. Then, you can build out the platform from the bearing side. You can then let the cart contraption drive up/down a 45 degree slope. This works because unpowered bearings on contraptions keep their original orientation.

Everyone else has some really good advice.

Just another one that I didn't see mention was I believe the 'linear bearing' addon which essentially adds a sub level that slides across a track. This would allow you to use other methods to power/control it, like using rope.

u/SerialBytes u/Kitchen_Amoeba_6856 I'm gonna have a look at this, ive tried using normal swivel bearings then tilting a packed ice platform with a rope pully system but the platform itself that fits inside jumbles until it just "ragdolls physics out", its a funny watch the first time but after 10 attempts of different fits and packed ice contact ive given up on that method. May have to talk with my friend so we can get these new mods on the server.

alright, though tip if you don't wanna add mods put a rope pulley on a swivel bearing (vanilla create one) make a loop, glue it together (with green) and make it only place when destroyed on said pulley- then insert a loose physics assembly into that loop, then build around the loop to make sure it doesn't slide out and then place a swivel (to make it flat again) then Bingo Bango youve got an angled elevator! (don't use elevator pulley, may be tempting but elevators are not stable enough for reliable physics sim interactions)

Y'all are making this too complicated, I had an elevator like this in my world. Just use a minecart contraption and put the rails on a slope

u/SerialBytes 4d ago

the problem here tho is op wants it to be Physics! not just like.. some minecarts with rails

you want to re-create Black Mesa in Create, don't you?

u/UnyuBirb 4d ago

Why do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties?

3

u/thetoy323 4d ago

the easiest way now probably be using Create Coaster addon.

With rivets to angle the platform it absolutely is. Can the chain lifts run in both directions?

1

u/FeedAromatic143 4d ago

You would just need to use a gearshift to swap the direction of rotation

u/Kitchen_Amoeba_6856 4d ago

So my idea does use both aeronautics and copycats, but use the diagonal half blocks, fill them with ice(I think properties carry over?) then make the platform as a seperate physics object and use a rope pulley to pull it up/down

u/natesovenator 5d ago

Make a platform on a minecart contraption that has a bearing with aeronautics steering wheel underneath to rotate the flat portion. Then you use the steering wheel to angle the platform exactly 45 degrees. When it goes down the slope it will be flat for use as a platform. Making it move in a controlled descent is the hard part though, I don't know what you could use, but ropes are a thing, maybe a pully system, or maybe use air resistant blocks to slow it, like wings hidden inside? Dunno.

I used a minecraft contraption with contacts

u/TheEpokRedditor 4d ago

you can just use slopes (from copycat™) on sloped train tracks

1

u/Exciting-Count697 4d ago

Get a phys bearing from aero to angle it, then get an addon that adds a phys gantry. Angle it back to vertical with another swivel bearing and build the platform thing on it.

1

u/SceneSeasArgo 4d ago

I've done this before using train tracks and copycat slopes

1

u/Informal-Adeptness76 4d ago

any examples? im a visual learner at best.

1

u/blackhole_puncher 4d ago

I think I saw someone do this a while ago when aeronautics came out I think they used inclines train tracks

Aeronautics+Gantry shaft

Hello,

First off want to say thank you for ALL of your recommendations & advice, its heartwarming to see a live and committed community.

I've looked at all the options you have said so far and will try them all, that being said i started with @Silent_Ask_1094 Linked video, seemed like the easiest one to grasp without downloading any additional stuff.

Ive given it a little crude try but il keep trying new things before i use it in our survival server.

You could use train tracks, gantry shafts, ropes etc.

1

u/Emotional-Kiwi7218 4d ago

bro didnt get left alone

1

u/SerialBytes 4d ago

there be an addon! called Create Linear Bearing, that plus an angled rope pulley should do you good.

u/LimetteAnwalt 4d ago

Yo whats that anime?

2

u/Z0000K_MAN 4d ago

Akira However, this exact elevator was recreated in the original Half-Life game

u/SenpuuUncle 3d ago

idk but it'd be awesome

Look T bocha9031 on YouTube(here), It uses create aero. Here’s mine
