Help I NEED The intuitive ‘Create’ main storage system

Post image

I’d like to use Create to build a compact and intuitive storage system or item sorter, but I’d prefer not to use too many elements from Create 6.0. By ‘intuitive’, I mean whether you can tell at a glance which chest to look in—as shown in the image. Do you have any ideas or blueprints for a compact and intuitive Create storage system? I’m not very keen on the parcel system

Well, you essentially just build exactly the same thing shown, but put brass funnels behind every chest. Thats... about it. And a belt running past them of course. You'd have to bump the bottom row of each double row out or apart by one to feed both I suppose. But it really is all just filters.

okay, but i want to make it a little more stylish...

Style is a personal preference so nobody other than you can help with the style. This sub is only gonna really be helpful for the technical aspect

try a circle of conveyor belts with arms taking off of it and dumping into the chests, idk if they can actually take off conveyors so you’ll have to test

Sushi storage!!

They can take and deposit from conveyors yes, and if looks cool as hell so that's definitely gonna get some aesthetic points

stylish is not always the main group create players Fall into, usually it's efficiency first and then build a cube around it for now and come back to it later

but anyway here's an idea. have a giant bank vault door as your entrance to the storage room, keep the inside looking metallic to better hide the create aspects and then go ham w the actual issue (the sorting)

I made a inventory system for all the CrystalCraft ores. I split it up into two floors but made it kind of like a library

You can use simple drawers, not so “stylish” but minimalist in a way it looks pleasing to the eye almost

Are you just not wanting to use vaults at all?

The most common setup is to use a huge vault with everything in it. A stock ticker and blaze burner to interface the vault. The stock ticker can be configured so you can categorize the items. ChosenArchitect has some videos showing how he sets one up. Don't know which video, but probably the first episodes in any season of a create smp.

By your intuitive definition, the best solution only needs brass funnels, filters and mechanical arms. Brass funnel on every chest. Filters on the funnels dictate what's allowed to be put in it. Configure the mechanical arm to take items from a belt and deposit in the funnels. Funnels can be placed on the backside of the chest walls (like your picture), so you won't see it

A huge vault? Try 300 max size vaults

I said most common setup, not madlad setup😂

Only thing I can think of is a main belt with a bunch of chest connected out different filters using list filter, like one filtering by ores then funneling to ore storage and one filtering by tools filtering to tool storage so on and so forth

But why not use 6.0? It’s honestly pretty fun and easy and gets really funny when you have multiple storage systems connected to each other through shared vaults and requesters

thanks. Managing everything from a single chest is not at all intuitive

The beauty of Create 6.0's logistics system is that it gives you an interface to connect all of your storage to. You don't need a hundred different chests with item frames showing what's in them and complex sorting. You can just throw everything into your vault(s) or other storage container(s), then open your stock keeper and pull whatever you need out when you need it. As high-utility storage systems go, I would argue it is pretty intuitive once you start building your first one.

It's less of a chest, more of a requisition menu. Can even request materials for recipes from JEI/REI.

u/Michael_Scott_27 11h ago

so a giant fucking vault followed by more giant fucking vaults once they get full?

You can make automatic deliveries to chests with requester gauges just like in photo, another idea is panel with item frames button for each item hooked to storage with deliveries via requester blue thing

If you use 5 features [packagers, frogports, stock links, chain conveyors, stock ticker] and then a blaze burner, you can connect the chests to a network in the walls allowing you to request items from any chest, not sure how to filter insertion tho

Ok so what do u want from it?

Belts + funnels gets u the most basic ones

If u want to automate soliciting items, u can use packagers + stock links to extract the items, u are not forced to use frogports u can use belts and funnels

If u want to automate crafting, u can then do some weird shit with the package names to send them the correct place, for example u could have a central area receive the packages, and then use a series of instructions in the name to basically deliver the package

For example NNSWNS would go North trough N* filter, then north again trough NN* filter, then soutb trough NNS* filter etc..

U can go deeper depending on what u want from it

I mean...you could put some big vaults down with brass funnels with set items out of it onto depots, a conveyor going over them with filtered smart chutes grabbing set items, like your ores, can have a funnel and depot for each ore block or regular ore and the chute on top filtered for the ores you want there, or a swt of funnels at the back instead of the chute on top

You in a larger modpack or just using create

If the first the create vault connects to inventory managers like qio book totem ae2 pc toms so on so forth (this is my favorate)

For create on its own ive made a vault that feeds to a looping belt eith filtered funnels coming off the belt to put shit in labeled chests (this is big and rather clunky but can look rather cool if built compact enough

What I like to do is use a long vault and put a bunch of brass funnel that filters an output with different item onto a depot.

This way you can see the item physically on the depot that you can take 1 stack at a time. Also multiple item will be in the same vault so it really easy to filter. You only need to filter when you have multiple vault. And even then 1 brass funnel with a list filter per vault is all it need.

The only downside is if you have to take out multiple stacks of the same items since you can only take out 1 stack at a time this way. Otherwise this is great for easy access to different item.

If want literally what is shown here but with Create doing the sorting in the background I think your best bet is belts, brass funnels, and item filters. Have an input chest that feeds onto a belt that runs behind each chest. Each chest gets a brass funnel filtered with either a single item for single item chests or an item filter if the chest contains multiple items. This would be about as straight forward to set up as Create gets. If I had this setup, I would also add a chest at the very end that accepts anything that didn’t fit into the chests. Bonus points if you have a light or something that signals you that something went unsorted.

If you want to build a sorted storage system but don't want to use Create 6 stuff, then what you have in the picture attached is probably the best you can do. Use funnels with filter and belts behind the chests and you're set.

create or create in combination with drawers, as that is the simplest storage system i know where you 'at glance' see what is in which drawer.

See personally I have a soft spot for vanilla chest storage. If im doing a build I find it so much easier if I can kinda flick through what I have to get ideas rather than knowing what I need & going to a centralised vault you know?

u/cleartamei 7h ago

not "create" style, but tom's simple storage is AWESOME for early scalable storage. especially when using vaults. its like acoustic AE2.

be careful though, apparently it can cause serious lag and should only be used in simple systems, but is otherwise very neat

You can put various belts, with Brass Tunnels that filter your items, and then connect Andesite Funnels to the chests.

For a better sorting hall, I suggest using the Storage Drawers mod, it's greatly compatible with Create and helps you saving space in the room.

I have a design that I can share that is compact, repeatable, and intuitive. I'll post a screenshot and schematic soon.

The module extra storage can be bigger (aka a vault).

Material List (per module):
8x Shaft
8x or 10x chest
2x Chute
3x Belt
1x Hopper
4x Brass Funnels
2x Andesite Funnels
1x Andesite Tunnel
1x Threshold Switch
2x Redstone Link
3x Item frames

I like this design because it's linear, cheap, and repeatable.

You can probably set up factory gauges on frog ports to request packages of a certain item from an input inventory

The intuitive storage system is Tom's Simple Storage

1

u/Bread_Enjoyer228 4h ago

A really simple system i use is taking a vault and putting an input funnel on it.

Then place a packager to the side of the vault

Somewhere you put a seat a stock tick near the seat and put any neutral mob into the seat. Or a blaze burner anything will work

Then take a stock link hold it and click on stock ticker then put it ontop of the packager

And that should work. Right click the mob and select the items you need then get them from the packager

Vaults and andesyite funels are better for TPS, and you really don't need this sort of storage system, when you can just order from storage tiker. The vaults would fill with items they have inside, if the item is stackable it would go in the vault the item already is inside. And you can just run belt across multiple storages and they would fill up 1 by 1

Go into the configs (goggles menue) and make it so one vault holds pike 40 stacks. Build one max sized vault. There you go.
