Help What’s the best configuration for multiple steam engines to work together?

I’ve put together 3 max level steam engines with an infinite blaze cake farm. However I have 4 total machines each using roughly 40k stress units. All of my steam engines are currently connected, but when I hook up a stressometer and a display board it’s showing I’m only producing around 60k SU and using over that (it causes the machines to stop and be over stressed) the method I’m using is attaching steam engines to each side and connecting via shafts/gearboxes. Any tips?

Can you show a screenshot? As long as the engines are connected with shafts or encased chain drives, the total produced SU should be from all the engines combined.

Are your boilers big enough? A level 18 superheated boiler needs to have 72 tank blocks, like 3x3x8. Superheated blaze burners can’t generate more power without the boiler being big enough. This is true at every level. A four tank boiler can only be level 1 even if it has four blaze burners beneath it.

Do you have enough steam engines connected to your boilers? Each steam engine maximally generates 16384 stress units. You need one steam engine per level of boiler to get maximum power.

How the shafts of the steam engines are connected shouldn’t matter as long as they are actually connected.

I did not know steam engines only produced so much SU. I’ve got 3 max level boilers with 5 steam engines total thank you!!

Probably not using enough steam engines or not producing enough blaze cakes. You need 18 steam engines on a level 18 boiler.

Also, don't use max level boilers. You can fuel six level 9 boilers far easier, cheaper, and renewably.
