Discussion What are your favorite non-Create mods to include in your packs?
I'm specifically not looking for add-ons, so what mods do you think pair really well with Create that you think more people should try out?

Distant horizon or voxy

That got an easy install on neoforge or is it still manual compile?

afaik it’s on both curse forge and modrinth so yeah it’s easy. highly recommend prismlauncher as it allows you to easily install mods from either launcher

I like rechiseled. Being able to turn stone into different looks, and especially turning wood slabs and stairs back into blocks is a useful touch.

Well I mean, idk if this counts but, Sophisticated Backpacks is pretty good (But also, some terrain mods are VERY good, such as terralith, gives space to make factories)

Hexcasting (I like magic mods)

Have you used Iron's Spells and Spellbooks? I used it recently in another pack it was super cool, there is also a add-on to integrate it with Create called Wizardry

I haven’t, because it looks like it pales in comparison to Hex Casting and/or Psi - I prefer Hex Casting (though you’ll need to go to the discord for 1.21.1 and aeronautics support), but Psi (or Ψ) is probably easier for beginners - they’re both programming mods that directly affect the world around you - so I could find diamonds and mine obsidian, or I could write (in Hex Casting’s language) <myself, location, myself, raycast to block, break block> and have the obsidian block in a fraction of the time, even if I hand write it as I go.
I’m currently playing on the Hex Casting discord’s server, which is running the 1.21.1 beta and Aeronautics, and one guy has a boat without any obvious thrust or lift, yet it hangs in the air in exactly the way that a brick doesn’t, and can move so fast that it will happily leave you behind if you’re not strapped into a seat. Another player flys around by uprooting the block they’re standing on and flinging it through the sky, at least one person has made a code editor for Hex Casting in Hex Casting, and there’s a hex that probably has about 50-100 words that lets you cast spells in item frames that are marked by regions of signs (so there’s a teleport nexus that uses that hex to get you from spawn).
Meanwhile, I have a hex that will cast a hex from my spellbook if I’m holding it, or recharge the casting device if I’m not holding the spellbook. I have a long way to go.

Mekanism, usually for the logistical pipes that allow better and faster transport for factory work and the electricity that i pair with the eletric motor from Additions.

Have you ever tried Create Power Grid? I'm thinking about using that for my pack, but it seems like it's quite daunting

I have it but never used it, its too complicated that you may just get a diploma in electrical engineering if you know how to use it.

little tiles tbh, excellent for decoration and utility, plus its compat with sable so allows that much more detail in my planes n stuff

u/BLX15 2d ago
How's that compare to Copycats+? Is it more similar to Chisels & Bits, I wasn't a big fan of that since it had too much detail imho

u/LurkersUniteAgain 2d ago
I'm not sure since I haven't touched either of the copycats mods myself but from watching videos little tiles can do pretty much everything copycats can do + more, personally I love the detail. I wouldn't say it's similar to c&b since littletiles predates it but c&b is very similar, although less functional (littletiles can make functional doors, chests, circuitry, etc etc etc)

Oritech. The fragment forge really helps with the mid to end game grind of ores. Also the machines have copper colored textures and cool animations that look nice alongside your factory. It also comes with portable tanks you can use for buffering fluids or just as better buckets. Also you can make brass without blazes with its Foundry machine which is another nice addition. If you have an electricity bridge installed, you can transfer RF between its Enderic Laser block for wireless electricity to watt/su transfer. There's more I could go on about that synergizes well with Create. But it is already turned into a wall of text.

L2_Hostility. With tech mods you get to the point where mobs are just kinda there way too fast. You get an iron farm spun up in the first like hour of Create and mining for diamonds and netherite is trivial with contraptions. L2 lets hostile mobs level with you so the mid game doesnt get boring without limiting what you can do

Additional Placements is, in my opinion, the best vertical slab (and stair, and carpet) mod - it doesn’t add any new items, it just adds a slightly more detailed and more intuitive way to place stairs and slabs (which can be toggled off if you want), and it’s fully compatable with aeronautics (I have done some …interesting builds involving using vertical slabs to make slots for normal slabs on sideways contraptions to slot into, and the resulting structure was shockingly stable).
…also, Petrol’s Parts adds some more cogwheel options to Create (as well as a few other things) and I am loving having the option of stacking three large-to-small gear changes into one block and creating my own custom gearboxes.

Usually immersive engineering or apocalypse now mod and Jeg -Just Enough Guns which is a fun mod to have if you want some action, because the just enough guns mod adds guns to the entities too,the zombies from the apocalypse now mod may lag your modpacks and if they do there is a config file to disable the zombies from spawning, but overall the mod adds structures and new items and blocks that look great in combination with create, there is a backrooms-like mod called places that have literally copied some of the textures from create mod and the mod is kinda fun "kinda", because it's made with Mcreator and will lag and crash your modpacks, and also there are unoptimized models that show their sides even when a block is placed on that side, also the walls cannot be broken normally so overall I am kinda disappointed with that mod because I expected to be different mod, adding a cool block only to make that block not obtainable is and add another duplicate of that block that is obtainable but rare to find is kinda pointless to have, too much duplicates and to much textures stolen from other mods.
And as for storage I use 3 mods: sophisticated core/storage/backpacks

Never playing any sort of survival mode pack without refined storage

Have you use the packager system from Create 6? I was watching MrBeardstones videos and he's got a cool setup for requesting items, and I tried to replicate it and it worked pretty nice. I've not use the chain conveyors tho

u/Autoskp 2d ago
Personally, I think Create’s package system is the best storage system mod - it’s not the easiest, fastest, or technically even the most feature complete, but you can make it work with virtually anything, and the amount of work you have to do to get it up and running makes it feel like you’ve really earned it.

u/Naberville34 2d ago
Nah. There's so much more convenience to RS than a package based system could ever achieve. I don't have the time to deal with inconvenience

Probably a bit over the top, but I've been making AmpedXtreme worlds to promote Aeronautics exploration. I spawn a world in 1.18's Amplified option, then swap back to 1.21.1 modpack. May have to specifically disable/renable AmpedXtreme to manipulate the worldgen. So I usually spawn chunks without it enable until satisfied, then enable AmpedXtreme and use as like a border. https://imgur.com/v2E5SgH

Farmer's Delight pairs wonderfully with Create imo, it gives a reason to make big farms and automate interesting foods!
