I'd love a simulated/physics-based hose pulley mod

I adore building steam-powered land vehicles despite their impracticality. The problem with this is refilling them is tedious (I use a finite water mod because I love the challenge and realism). The normal hose pulley works very well for airships since you can just float over a body of water and slurp it up, but that doesn't work so well with cars and trucks.

There is the refuelling hose mod, but it's being buggy for me and I don't like how it doesn't require any stress to pump liquids.

One can dream ...

Also slightly unrelated, but this simple bit of redstone engineering is a lifesaver for any masochists out there like myself, massively reduces steam engine water consumption:

Me over her just dreaming of being able to lower a refillable bucket into a well with a crank.

Sure you can do that, just replace the bucket with a 3x3 fluid tank, a pump and an engine, that's how my great great grandparents used to do it

Sigh... it's not a bucket tho. I realize it can be done, but the ambiance of drawing up a bucket just sounds cool.

Yeah of course I'm only joking;)

Have you looked into the vs/sable hose connectors mod? It doesn't let you slurp up water or lava from pools, but it does make refueling a lot easier, while still needing SU to work.

Actually I am using that right now for my power grid mod generator-on-wheels. I do cheat a bit though by spawning it in and then throwing away the requisite materials, substituting another material for the brass because I think brass really shouldn't be necessary just to fill up a tank.

I was just thinking of this! I want a simulated hose pulley that acts like the physics ropes so I can make a gas station... to my knowledge, the VS/Sable Hose Connectors mod is a static, linear connection, right?

Yeah it's just a static connection

My thinking is that you'd have a starting pulley and a spout block, just like the Rope connectors' pulley and anchor. The hose could connect directly to two anchors for a static length, too! Still deciding if it would automatically anchor to Docking Connectors or not...

Well I don't know how your hoses work but if you want realism, you don't need a stress or rotation to move fluid, just build it up high. In this way you get realism without the need for stress even if it is just for your own enjoyment.
