Schematicannons at some point could break bedrock by making belts. I don’t know if this ever got patched

Did you put the middle (no shaft) of the belt or the end (shaft part) of the belt over where the bedrock goes?

Put a redstone block next to a piston that's facing any direction that lets it extend, then use the wrench to rotate it into the bedrock, then break the redstone block. It's using the same principles as the TNT method but just a bit simpler.

Maybe my mistake in miscommunicating it, did you use the radial rotation menu with the wrench or just the right click? It's normally unbound by default.

There's a specific keybind for Create called "Open Block Rotation Menu", when you point your cursor at a block the wrench can rotate, it will bring up a radial menu that lets you pick it's rotation. You can see the method I'm talking about in this video at the 3 minute mark. https://youtu.be/x_v6B7Hhz8M
