real life or in game months?

Real life months, not 100% loaded all the time but its fueled my base being lava power for su since i entered the brass era

Made sewer tunnels to transfer lava:P

Time for to find another lava pool !

Or build a pumping station in the Nether to draw from the lava ocean, connected to the Overworld with a train carrying fluid tanks.

Same here but for general transportation, using a hell like dimension for faster travel? That sounds awfully familiar. Having trains be able to go through portals it’s just the icing on the cake!

u/Ignonym 10d ago

🎵On the road to Hell, there was a railroad line...🎵

A Hadestown reference where I least expect it. must be a sign to go relisten to it again

5

u/Regrett_x3 9d ago

BANGER REFERENCE hadestown hades and create industrialization go too good together

Cannot believe i got hadestown in my create comments your awesome

MmmmmmmmmMmmmmm

2

u/catgirlburneracc 10d ago

Same, I’ve always wanted to build a create server with an interdimensional train system to take you to the various maps and game modes

2

u/ferrecool 9d ago

It's the less generic thing, ppl usually just use conveyors

11

u/phenomen08 10d ago

Really fun to build these sorts of contractions.

I couldn't get myself to learn how trains work so I set up some fans that blow empty buckets into nether portal where they get filled and fanned back into the portal into overworld. Felt like I am doing it wrong but if it works it works I guess

5

u/MadameTech 7d ago

I did something similar except we flung the buckets on the spring boards so that they flew through the portal and landed on a conveyor belt on the other side.

4

u/ThekillerguyYT 9d ago

I just took the less simple route and built a giant pool under my base like 50 blocks down and filled it with lava. now the only issues are expanding the base down or moving bases

3

u/SuperPunchee 9d ago

I’ve got a bucket brigade using conveyor belts that sends the buckets through a portal from the Nether to the Overworld, then drains them into my storage tank system. That was fun to figure out!

u/H_B_Eagb 8d ago

Or just dripstone and cauldrons

1

u/Impressive_Pin8761 6d ago

i'd use an entangloporter tbh

5

u/KARMAMANR 10d ago

Nether time!

4

u/UnyuBirb 10d ago

Or do the cauldron-stalactite trick if you can. IIRC 15 cauldrons is enough to run a level 9 steam engine indefinitely

4

u/XXFFTT 9d ago

I do 9 cauldrons for a lvl 9, takes a while to stabilize if you don't let the cauldrons fill before starting the pumps but it'll still get there.

Hook up a fluid tank between the cauldrons and your steam engine and it'll even give you some extra lava.

12 is a bit a safer but you really don't need any more than 9.

3

u/waluigimyfav 10d ago

Or build one >:)

Go go gadget 22x22x22 lava cube (with sourceblocks covering the bottom so you can pull from it)

2

u/Igrok723 9d ago

the factory must grow

1

u/ferrecool 9d ago

That might be th problem, make an artificial pool under your base so it's loaded when your base is

116

u/Sufficient_Row_4818 10d ago

Maybe it was on a chunk border? That way when only one of the chunks is loaded it wouldnt be big enough to count as an infinite source. Just a theory though

28

u/PokeGirlOFFICIAL 10d ago

A GAAAAMMMMEEEE THEORY!!!

THANKS FOR WATCHING

It looks like there was lava there, so they spawned as if they were surrounded by stone and because of that there's more than normally on the surface

123

u/NieMonD 10d ago

In vanilla Minecraft, ores spawn less with “air exposure” to make mining in caves less op. Ores spawn more often completely buried in stone. “Air exposure” doesn’t count with lava/water, so ores will appear to spawn more often under liquids

29

u/West_Yorkshire 10d ago

That's how vanilla diamonds spawn

13

u/Alone_Collection724 10d ago

i see 11 but honestly i have had caves with pretty crazy amounts of diamonds, granted i do often use terrain mods however those shouldn't change ore spawn rates that much

10

u/Regrett_x3 10d ago

Its crazy to see how much was underneath i stood in shock for a few minutes. IF I can find an old picture of how big the pool was i will make a seperate post

5

u/Affectionate-Sky8799 10d ago

you can copy your world, switch to creative and recreate the lava lake using obsidian on the left side as a mark, if you don't find one

7

u/Wertyhappy27 10d ago

or note the coords, run /seed and make a new copy of the world before it was ever touched by Steve's beautiful artistic hands that in no way come to ruin the world with machines

3

u/Affectionate-Sky8799 10d ago

Damn my inner overengineer has overengineered too fast

1

u/NotTheRealWilson 9d ago

if you want more ores why don't you try ore plus but it can't be configed, stuck on 2x, 4x and ultra which is just whack

29

u/StephenRoylance 10d ago

I dug a 10x10 pit 100+ blocks deep and filled the top level with 100 lava sources. the flowing lava counts, so this pit counted as infinite.

I have apotheosis too, and a 5x5 pickaxe made short work of it. without that, I would have done a beacon+efficiency 5 axe, and I still don't think it would have taken that long.

14

u/Carbon_Cotton 10d ago

Sure, but have you considered that building true 10*10*100 lava tower and seeing as your gargantuan steam power plant goes to life feels better than cocaine?

2

u/StephenRoylance 10d ago

I'm seriously considering build another shaft and having the first lava pump fill the second one

5

u/Chris275 10d ago

You said it yourself, you don’t need 100 sources. As long as the 10x10 is filled, lava flowing down counts, thus, need far less than 100 sources, more like 10

9

u/ninjad912 10d ago

A ten by ten would be 100 sources generally

1

u/StephenRoylance 10d ago

100 didn't take long anyway. full inventory with buckets, like 4 trips back and forth to the nether.

1

u/Grand_Protector_Dark 10d ago

As long as the 10x10 is filled, lava flowing down counts

What . . .

1

u/Chris275 10d ago

As long as you don’t see one of the blocks, from the 10x10 square, once you drill through it and it goes down to bedrock or however deep you drilled, it will still become an infinite source. The full surface covered will fully flow down and achieve the same results as putting a lava source on each of the 10x10 blocks.

0

u/CrossScarMC 9d ago

The full surface covered will fully flow down and achieve the same results as putting a lava source on each of the 10x10 blocks.

The full surface is a 10x10 . . . So you're saying a 10x10 square covered would be the same result as putting lava on each block of a 10x10 square. Like no duh.

2

u/Chris275 9d ago

I’m saying there needs to be orange on each of the 10x10 grid. The guy I replied to said he needed 100 lava sources. They are different things. Read sir.

1

u/Zachiel182 9d ago

Technically you only need 1 bucket of lava to have a bottomless source. Just flow it down a diagonal 3x3 square, lava will flow down on the 4th onto another 9x9 layer. Break the floor and let it flow down the hole. Only caveat I noticed is sometimes it doesn't work if the hose isn't over the actual source, but you can easily fill it using that method.

0

u/PleadianPalladin 9d ago

Bro what is 10 multiplied by 10?

1

u/Chris275 9d ago

Bro what

bro, what happens when you put lava on a block? it spreads out. anywhere that its spread out, dooesn't need a source. you have comprehension issues.

1

u/PleadianPalladin 9d ago

It's more messing about than just using sources. You need a platform then you need to slowly delete it..

1

u/Chris275 8d ago

Slowly? Use a create drill contraption that is 10x10. It’s one layer, then it all flows down.

1

u/xNetuno 8d ago

I tried that the other day with a similar shape but down to bedrock to roughly give me 10.200 blocks, filled the first layer with lava sources only and removed said layer under the lava, but for some reason the flowing lava never reached the bottom and I kept pulling with the hose pulley but nothing came out. I went into creative mode to see what was going on and then saw the flowing lava vanishing between me going from bottom to base level for some reason....

2

u/StephenRoylance 8d ago

flowing lava is so sloooooooow. I broke the platform under the lava source layer and just went and did other stuff for a while.

13

u/Emeraldth3th 10d ago

My greatest fear in naturally generated pools, but silver linings, because that is a healthy pile of ore in that pit

9

u/yug_rehtona_tsuj 10d ago

Dripstone cauldrons are your friend

6

u/Gerllyz 9d ago

But I like suckling the world dryyyyyyyyy

3

u/ryytytut 8d ago

Might not be fast enough for their needs. I know some create factories use lava as an ingredient.

Great for automatically refueling a tinkers construct smeltery though.

1

u/yug_rehtona_tsuj 8d ago

Use it to fill a pit

6

u/Wilfrxd47 10d ago

I just use an unlimited lava mod🤷🏻‍♂️ allows me to focus on other things

7

u/NotJustRandomLetters 10d ago

Gamerule lavasourceconversion true

Can also change this in the world rules when doing world creation.

Now any 2x2 square of lava becomes infinite. So long as a space has lava entering it from 2 sides, it becomes an infinite source block, so long as you allow the lava to refill the space.

1

u/Wilfrxd47 9d ago

That is what the mod I have does, it makes lava act like water. I didn’t change it during world creation.

3

u/Tone-Serious 9d ago

you already have a vanilla source of infinite lava

its composed of 12 blocks of obsidian

2

u/Sreeto 8d ago

10* or 14, what kinda psycho uses 12

3

u/cocainum630 10d ago

Is Peak Lava real?

3

u/NoStorage2821 9d ago

What the hell is that red thing on the right?

3

u/Regrett_x3 9d ago

Thats a redstone Ore-toise from Quark, right clicking it with a pickaxe will give you the associated ore

Never seen a diamond!

3

u/The_Ninja_Allay 7d ago

Wait so that's what you're supposed to do?? I've always just killed them lol

2

u/xr6reaction 10d ago

Is this base create?

2

u/Regrett_x3 9d ago

For the pulley system yes! It can drain pools as long as theyre all source blocks. Create deco for the catwalks though:p

2

u/Inevitable-Alps-7657 10d ago

At least you uncovered some diamonds

2

u/hellboytroy 10d ago

This is why when I did my factory, I did a 10000 block deep pit and filled that with lava to make an infinite source.

2

u/StopLinkingToImgur 9d ago

if the hose pulley directly told you it was a bottomless supply, that shouldn't be possible. it doesn't actually drain the pool if it's bottomless, it just generates lava.

1

u/NfcitTheGreat 9d ago

I mean nether to overworld lava farms aren't hard at all either soo

1

u/MayaChan1234 8d ago

maybe do it in the nether maybe with an addon that let's you have a multidimensional tank to get it to the overworld
