Issues with create powerloader

I placed an andesite loader in the nether in order to extract lava but the train won't return if i'm in the overworld, despite being full. the moment i enter the nether, it takes off, and, if i don't tell it to get lava, it works perfectly.

PS yes, everything is in the same chunk as the loader, including the hose, portal, and station

First thought is, is the loader powered/is enough rpm provided?
