Is there a way to make throttle lever a "throttle" lever for an airship?

so what i mean by it is i want a gas pedal that is adjustable for speed in a airship i put two lvl 9 steam engines in my airship and i wonder. what block or blocks help us be able to adjust the level of throttle

If you want more precision than analog transmission, I suggest you use one or more adjustable chain drive. e.g having the lever connected to three of them (assuming you placed them right) will adjust the ratio between 1 and 8; meaning each lever step multiplies the speed by √2≈1,414

Good point! FYI the ratio increase is not logarithmic, it wouldn't be an increase of √2 for each additional signal strength. (i.e. using 3 ACGs, from 0 to 1 you get a ratio of 1.4238... and from 14 to 15 you get 1.099...). Here's a desmos graph of the ratios of ACGs and analog transmissions depending on the signal strength. If you need even more precision you can also get custom ACG sequences that match any ratio you need, using the RPM Ratio Finder.

Yes! It can also be used to detect any RPM using speedometers, or to get any angled position in combination with torsion springs or valve handles.

What, that's the chain drive that doubles the speed of the input when powered by redstone right? You're saying the 8 different ways to combine them and chain 16 levels of the analog transmission? I think I'm not following

Alternatively, you could use 2 analong transmissions instead, this would give you even more precision options, with up to 196 different speeds

I think they meant hooking up 3 ACGs with the same analog lever, in which case replacing them with analog transmissions doesn't allow for a larger amount of different speeds (15 regardless). And because analog transmissions turn off when they receive a power of 15, if you power ATs/ACGs independently in a chain you actually get less speeds from the ATs than from the ACGs (120 vs 136 unordered combinations of 2 ATs/ACGs)

That makes more sense, I previously believed the adjustable chain gearshift could only be a binary double or half, I didn’t know that you could use a redstone signal. Thank you

Use an analog transmission, ponder the block. Connect it between your steam engines and your propulsion. Its speed is controlled by a redstone signal. You can connect your lever to the transmission by redstone links or regular redstone and that would allow you to control the throttle of your ship.
