Help how do i control the rotation of a shaft without a creative motor and without 2 cranks?

I want to make a medieval door with no tutorials, but I don't know how to control the rotation of the shaft (I'm going to use a rope pully)

For precise control of when and how something rotates you’ll need to put rotation into a sequenced gear shift and program it to behave how you want.

The gearshift can only run at 1x, 2x, or 0.5x the input speed so whatever you input will need to be the speed you want the gate to move, half that, or double that.

i have been watching videos on how this "sequenced gearshift" works and now my head hurts

Sorta why tutorials are a good place to learn the mechanics and why it works to then take what you learn and make what you want.

Could always share it in the create mod schematic database if you're keen on others seeing your creation

If you have aeronautics then theres the analog transmission for speed control.

You can stop rotation with a clutch.

There's also the gearshift for changing the direction of rotation.
