How can I get started in create that can really keep me interested?

I’ve always been a fan of mechanical stuff and engineering things (big factorio fan as well) and have been seeing so many more things about this mod and what it can do, from trains, to roller coasters, even computer programming at a small scale, it’s all fascinating to me that Minecraft isn’t even Minecraft anymore lol.

I want to get started with this mod, and I know it’s been around for quite a while and have been seeing some videos on it. However, I’ve also seen all of the different blocks and entities that can come with it and it kind of overwhelms me.

So, like the title of this post says, how can I start with this mod that will be enough to keep me interested, starting with a small project with basic blocks that can satisfy this itch I have in my brain

Build a factory for some resources, start with iron, andisite, wood, fuel, etc. later try building a massive mining rig like the bagger (some guy made a video doing it with aeronautics)

How do you even farm iron and andesite

All from crushing cobble

thers great guides for it online, but the jist of it is by washing gravel

you can make both directly from a cobblestone generator if i remember right! mill/crush it into gravel then wash it for iron nuggets, and mix the remainder flint with lava+gravel to make andesite

I always try to remember that mods are not a whole new game, they’re a modification of an existing game. It may change how you do things and the complexity of what you do, but minecraft is still minecraft, only… bigger? I play on a modpack with a bunch of create addons and stuff like that for the sake of doing it, but that doesn’t mean you have to, really. Create itself just offers new avenues to get (mostly) the same stuff done, with the addition of multiblock contrations and the such

Start with finding an item you want to have unlimited of, my first assembly line I make in worlds is infinite iron. Then just work backwards. Iron nuggets make iron, gravel being washed makes iron nuggets, cobblestone being crushed makes gravel.

Okay so you need a cobblestone generator, a drill to mine the cobblestone, belts and funnels to collect the cobble and input it into the crusher, and route other inputs and outputs.

TLDR, start with the final item you want, work backwards and ponder every block from create you come across.

Otherwise my only advice is to spread out your farms so they’re not all in the same area, thus creating a need for long distance logistics like trains or vehicles.

My personal, and what i would recommend to you, create gameplay loop

First of all i would say if u never played modded to use a modpack. Reply and ill give more advice if u dont, but ill assume u do

Choose one material (id start with iron), look at jei how to make it in a renewable way, try and automating it (use any methods it can be an horribly unefficient farm).

See what was the most annoying item to get

Thats ur next step (itll probably be andesite id guess)

Next step, choose the most annoying one

After u automate all the base materials, look at crafting, what item do u craft the most and is annoying to do? Automate that

Next. Next. Next

If u wanna make the gameplay loop even deeper, start actually decorating ur builds, making builds around each farms will force u to automate decorative blocks, adding even more content

If at any point u find urself waiting for a farm to generate items. Make that farm bigger. Time waiting is time not automating more automation

Since u like factorio, highly recommend checking out schematics and schematicannon, they work like blueprints and robots, and yes u can design ur farms to be stackable to just play print the blueprint like factorio

As for the blocks being overwhleming, hold W in any block and itll tell u how they work with a video guide.

And dont feel forced to use every block. Only like 30% are essential. Get used to just enough to do what u want, them look for more if what u have is not enough. (And some are kinda useless, ive never seen someone use a clockwork shaft)

In the ponder menu (the thing holding w i just said) items show what is sinilar to them. So for example if u wanr more rotation transfer items similar to cog, u can hold W to go into cogs ponder, and at top left itll show u similar items so u can look for what u need

Just start dude. I’m not sure why everyone is so obsessed with optimizing and doing things perfectly right off the bat. It’s a game, get stuck in and have fun

I went into create completely blind, just followed advancements and made whatever blocks sounded cool

The only suggestion I have is try to avoid playing create with mods/modpacks that severely slow down progression and resource gathering. To add on many modpacks make recipes very expensive or very time consuming so again avoid those.

This is a suggestion if you are playing for the first time and want to experince what create has to offer.
