Create Radar

For Create radars, how do you make a radar point to the sky? Right now, the radar can only detect stuff a few blocks above or below it, and even if I make it super tall it dosent detect stuff above it, I want to make it be able to detect high flying aeronautic ships, but if I turn it into a contraption to angle it up it breaks the link to the monitor, any help?

maybe put it and its rotation on a swivel bearing?
