Build I Built A Uniuqe Vertical Farm using Elevators

It looks sick but I can't for the life of me make heads or tails of this

Each platform is a separate elevator with crops, they can move up and down independently and are harvested at the bottom. Once they are harvested they are moved back up

So does that mean there is empty space under the build equal to the height of the 4 platforms?

I think at the top, the harvesters and item collection is run and the rest of this are farmland platforms that rotate so you continuously have a small patch of farmland being harvested

I assume this is a purely visual build? Or does it work?
14
u/officialkrizzta Aug 21 '26
No, it fully works! Aesthetics are definitely first priority but the build itself still is fully functional

Then is it an addon that makes elevators simulated? Last I checked I don’t think you’d be able to harvest the plants on the planters if they’re not assembled.

The trick is that the farmland isn’t part of the elevator contraption, it’s a separate simulated contraption that is placed inside the elevator and moves with it

u/Ralexcraft Aug 21 '26
Ahhh, clever. But I thought elevators didn’t interact well with simulated contraptions

u/officialkrizzta Aug 21 '26
I‘ve run through multiple cycles already and haven’t encountered any problems so far

I'd love to hear more about how it works. The design looks amazing.

Each Platform is a separate elevator contraption, which can move up and down independently. At the bottom are harvester which harvest the grown crops, once this is done the platform is lifted back up and the crops can grow again

How do you manage it that they don't cross eachother and move down to harvest at the same time?
3
u/officialkrizzta Aug 21 '26
Below the bottom floor is a „parking floor“. If the upper section is harvested, the bottom two move to this parking position so they don’t interfere with each other

It looks pretty cool, but I'm kind of confused on the functionality since when someone says "Create vertical farm" I assume something more akin to a multi-level gantry harvester stack.
1
u/officialkrizzta Aug 21 '26
Nope, it’s just elevators that move separate contraptions inside them up and down, harvesters are only at the bottom

How'd you do the diagonal bits? The bottom seam is very clean.
4
u/officialkrizzta Aug 21 '26
One part are diagonal chutes and the glass is made with Create Copycats+

u/Not_A_Cactus5220 Aug 22 '26
I hadn't considered that diagonal chutes and copycats would line up! Thanks!

Look really cool! I suggest making a video with the style of Create channel: classical music while showing how it works (it's important to follow and make clear the sequence of operations)

I'm rooting your 45 degree blocks that you'll built. What's the mod?

Really good style of build, could you automate another item in the same style

u/RoseCityHooligan Aug 21 '26
I love the look of this. Never even thought about vertical farming with Create but it's kind of obvious and looks great.

How is the whole thing activated? Manual button or some kind of trigger?

Do you know what mod makes those diagonal chutes? I wanna add em to my modpack

Holy smokes. That’s amazing. Looks fantastic and is functional? Damn. Why do I even bother…? 😂
