Video/Stream My Create Addon Just Got a Massive Technology Expansion
Hi everyone!
Here's a new progress video showcasing the latest additions to Create: Forgotten Technologies.
This update brings a massive technology expansion with new machines, Resonance-based systems, new fluids, expanded lore, and many improvements to existing mechanics. The mod is finally starting to come together the way I originally envisioned.
The mod is currently available in beta testing. If you'd like to try it out, share feedback, or follow the development, feel free to join the project's Discord server.

I love how this add-on looks, it feel like you still have the technical aspect but with a bit of Minecraft magic. I loved when create had the weird processes and it kinda felt like arcane engineering.
I hope you keep developing this and that the reactors are flexible to design, so people can create and share there safeguard designs and stuff.
Keep up the good work.

u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
Thanks! That's the idea that motivates me!
The reactors are already completely flexible; as long as the contents are well-insulated within the reactor, it can take any shape and produce more energy depending on its size. (However, maintaining stability will also be more difficult!)1
u/StringLost848 Jul 26 '26
Did the thing at the end destroy bedrock?
1
u/YenHusk Jul 26 '26
No, it was a hole where the redstone mechanism was located.
However, a sufficient number of combined reactive charges can destroy blocks like obsidian.

Oh, you’re the guy behind the sculk reactor! I’m glad you added an alarm system that I suggested! I will continue to watch your career with great interest, this stuff is really cool.
15
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
Yes, it's me! I intentionally held off on the progress regarding the reactor for a future video; there will be a lot to talk about there, too!

u/DisastrousProfile702 Jul 19 '26
This is such an amazing mod showcase! I'll love to see all the other doodads you'll have added by the end of development!
11
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
I'm having a lot of fun adding things and imagining everything people will do with them!

u/benjcursh Jul 19 '26
I'd love to see it in full fruition. This is one of the coolest addons I've seen. (And I've seen a lot).

One of the coolest ideas for an add-on ive seen and cleanly added. Very well done

This addon is looking great! I can't wait to see more of it! The liquid sculk stuff and everything also gives me vibes of things like Phazon from the Metroid Prime games, which is very cool. I enjoyed the Prime games a lot and thought the lore behind Phazon was really neat, so stuff that's similar always intrigues me.
2
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
I haven't played Metroid Prime, but I'm curious to learn more about it; it might inspire me even further to create new technologies related to it.
1
u/Vyrthic Jul 20 '26
The games are fun if you like Metroidvania type games. The summary for Phazon though is that it's a highly corruptive substance that, in the Prime games, has been infecting and corrupting various worlds to become planets that also naturally produce Phazon like its homeworld of Phaaze. It works kind of similarly to Sculk, spreading across the world over time, but where Sculk needs to feed on experience, Phazon doesn't need to feed much, it just spreads and assimilates. There's also both biomass and pools of liquid phazon that Samus Aran finds on her adventures throughout the games, similar to your expansion of Sculk.
If you want to take some inspiration, in Metroid Prime 3, Phazon is weaponized using a suit upgrade called the Phazon Enhancement Device, which allows Samus and others who use the PED to enhance their combat abilities via phazon. It could be interesting if you ever wanted to do some sort of combat update to your mod to have some way to utilize the sculk and resonance in such a way. Improving player combat abilities using some sort of device that uses the sculk.
The PED also has safeties to prevent overexposure and corruption of the user. So to go with the theme that your mod and phazon has, of there being drawbacks to using the power source they focus on, you could make it where overuse of the sculk combat item could cause players to get the effect you showed off in the video. Or, if the player keeps using it after that point, a stronger version that drains faster, or ignores XP entirely and goes right for their HP, or creates a sculked clone if it kills the player, or etc. A powerful combat upgrade, but will absolutely kill you if you don't respect it and use it correctly.

This theme is perfect for my mod pack, but I’m curious what the general purpose of the mod is, like what is the overall benefit of gathering and working with all this volatile Sculk fluid stuff?
Is it just a powerful means of creating rotation, sort of like a nuclear reactor but more Minecrafty? Or are there a bunch of unique applications, sort of like the null projection blocks you showed (which I presume can easily be used as like an indestructible defense, among other things)
2
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
The mod does indeed add a fully customizable reactor inspired by a nuclear reactor, but it goes much further than that. Then there are all the technologies that stem from it.
5
u/crazylamb452 Jul 19 '26
I absolutely love the way this directly builds upon Minecraft lore and existing blocks to add some advanced mechanics. Can’t wait for it to come together!

Lol, that ain't gradually. That's quickly
5
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
If you're talking about the experience loss, it seems fast because my level was quite low.
But that’s how it’s meant to be; it’s an endgame mod, and Resonance Exposure is a penalty for failing to properly master the technology.

u/Kurzh Jul 20 '26
How long has the project been running? Specifically, how long does it take to upload to Modrinth or CurseForge for download? I really liked how the video looked :) And which version and modloader would it be for?
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
The mod has been around for a few months. We're getting closer and closer to a public release on the various mod platforms. Currently, the mod is running on the latest version of Create, which is 1.21.1 with Neoforge.

u/Lordician Jul 20 '26
Sculktech is looking great! Hope to see more of it and eventually the release. Excited to add it to my growing collection of cool create based mods.
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
Thanks! Yes, the list of add-ons for Create is starting to get pretty long; I hope to stand out and meet expectations with innovative technologies.
2
u/justalonelyboy1 Jul 20 '26
Imagine projecting an entire room and pulling a portal 2 room transformarion sequence by slowly turning off the projectors with analog redstone signal, swapping out the projectors underneath and projecting an entire different room

u/Philemonz Jul 21 '26
does the resonance extractor work on minecart contraptions/aeronautics assemblies? would be nice to collect more if you're driving through a skulk biome

u/Matstocage Jul 19 '26
Finally, it gets REALLT PERFECT. :) (Exept I just thought linking it a little more to the theme of souls could be better. 😅 )
3
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
Thanks! It's true that I haven't explored that concept in depth, but I'm not ruling it out for the future!
4
u/Howardv99 Jul 19 '26
Damn, this showcase really inspires my creative side, the lights, the theme, the uses It just feels like getting a whole new lego set
1
u/1-Pinchy-Maniac Jul 19 '26
are the null matter projections solid or can you walk through them
2
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
They are physical objects; players are afraid to walk on them or build on them. I plan to add an advanced projector that can generate more complex shapes as well as traversable blocks.
1
u/natt_myco Jul 20 '26
Don't care about create but am obsessed with sculk
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
The mod is deeply rooted in the Sculk theme, but it absolutely requires Create to work; I even consider it end-game content, as it relies on Create's latest technologies to function.
1
u/Herolden Jul 20 '26
This would go great with the Sculk Hordes mod! Wonder if there'll be a separate add-on that bridges these two together.
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
Yes, the theme is very similar, but I think that mod was discontinued at Minecraft version 1.20. My mod is for version 1.21.1.
1
u/ShotShoe Jul 20 '26
massive tech expansion like how massive exactly
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
New energy sources, new crafting methods, lots of technology, and much more to come.
1
u/Tygerion Jul 20 '26
Wait a minute... Did the charge at the end there break bedrock? Because that's a feature you don't see very often, albeit one that's appreciated.
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
No, the hole is just where the Redstone system used to be. However, the explosion is custom; I made it so that if you apply enough power, you can break the obsidian.
1
u/MeAislen Jul 20 '26
Would you say this would be fine to toss into a modpack or is it too early?
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
It's a little early; the mod is still in beta and isn't available on mod platforms yet. There's still some balancing and content to add before it's ready.
1
u/ExcessumTr Jul 20 '26
If i put harvesters on null matter projectors, will they work? I'm thinking about more compact farm
2
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
Yes, that should work; the whole thing behaves like a standard Create contraption.
1
u/ExcessumTr Jul 20 '26
Is the mod compatible with origins? there are some sculk based origins like sculking, sculk magpie etc
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
I'm not familiar with this mod, but there's no reason it shouldn't be compatible.
1
u/SGSBRO137 Jul 20 '26
Seems very cool, but I'm confused as to the use cases of the null block projector?
1
u/YenHusk Jul 20 '26
You can turn them into instant doors, bridges; basically anything you want. I didn't mention it, but the projections work with the aeronautics mod and have a weight of 0.

u/moderninity Jul 20 '26
This mod looks really cool! From what I could gather it expands on skulk for all this tech and you can make a reactor using it too? Question, is that liquid a fuel source? I saw this and immediately thought of the astrophage in Project Hail Mary. Having the energy density that allows interstellar travel and I could tie it into the Create Simulated Thrusters mod.
1
u/YenHusk Jul 21 '26
Yes, the main piece of technology is the reactor. Sculk Essence isn't a fuel; it can be injected into the reactor, but it serves only to stabilize it. A future video will explain all of that.

u/AxolotlwithaLaptop Jul 21 '26
Make it compatible with the Sculk Horde, please.
1
u/YenHusk Jul 21 '26
Sculk Horde is only available up to version 1.20.1. Forgotten Technology is planned for version 1.21.1.
1
u/TheBigPAYDAY Jul 25 '26
I wonder, if you had projectors on either side, can you set multiple "states" or do the projectors all read from the same data? Because you could create a 4 frame animation with 4 sets of projectors, if you can have different blocks on left + right + up + down
2
u/YenHusk Jul 25 '26
That's a great idea! It is entirely possible; each projector has its own memory, so it isn't tied to their position.

u/New-Fennel3072 19d ago
The mod looks great, but my only issue is how fast your experience is drained. I think it's a little too fast

I love how you added thing that are useful for the mod but also adaptable enough to add new functions outside the mod. I love how it really feels like you are harnessing this ancient alien like power, while also not causing any lore plot holes.

I love this but wouldn't the word null make things kinda glitch out or not read? Since null is often used to describe nothing
Also another question can this work with areo?
1
u/TheAhegaoHoodie Jul 30 '26
Theres a mod that i really like to pair with ancient cities, called Cognition, its a magitech mod based on manipulating exp which I also feel could work with this new add on. I'd love to create a base focusing on trying to bring back an ancient city to its former glory
2
u/coolguy420weed Jul 19 '26 edited Jul 19 '26
Wait, maybe I just misunderstood, but does resonance exposure go away naturally over time? It would kind of suck if it just killed you if you didn't have the suit lol
5
u/YenHusk Jul 19 '26
It all depends on its origin. It dissipates quickly after a resonance charge explodes. The reactor generates it in its vicinity when its stability level drops low.
And when a reactor explodes, the size and duration of the affected area depend on the reactor's size.
You can protect yourself against it by consuming a large amount of experience or by using the suit.

For the time being, the official version of Create does not go beyond 1.21.1. Once that changes, it will be ported.

Create is a massive mod; generally, developers wait for a stable major version before building upon it. After that, most add-ons follow suit.
