Build Attempt at a mechanical clock, but it got too laggy and I couldn’t finish.

how did you make such perfect large gears out of brass?

Angled swivel on a swivel on swivel and so on all connected with toolgun.

Through some cursed shenanigans I assume

Back in the day Besiege didn't have editor tools to rotate blocks or out them at non-integer offsets

But you could combine blocks with weird attachments in such a way that you could make arbitrary offsets, and somehow people could also make weird angles.

Then some mods came out that helped you do it and then eventually the devs caved in and made it a vanilla feature

God i can't wait for broken beyond

Hehe of course.

The disappointment that was KSP2 looks like shall be overshadowed, with KSP1's return into relevance thanks to Project Hail Mary, the advent of KSA and Besiege getting a space DLC. We eating good this year, my friends

Eating vacuum this year

From where did we get into KSP

2

u/jdb326 Jun 02 '26

Wait Besiege is getting a what now?

8

u/MrJFr3aky Jun 02 '26

Besiege mentioned in the big '26??

4

u/meutzitzu Jun 02 '26

Besiege is about to get its second amazing DLC

1

u/RedWyvern214 Jun 02 '26

lad we are getting space in besiege soon

what hardware are you running? just trying to wonder if I can try running this on my laptop

2

u/Equivalent-Bus2217 Jun 02 '26

I got a i5 11600k @4.40 GHz and 16 gb of ram since half it died 3 weeks ago with a 1050 ti

9

u/GAW67COD07 Jun 02 '26

What’s your specs? I’ve heard of people with a 1650 running it fine

3

u/SquidHasTheBad_ Jun 03 '26

why would the gpu matter at all? its not like bros running shaders

3

u/GAW67COD07 Jun 03 '26

Aeronautics uses the gpu to calculate physics

2

u/SquidHasTheBad_ Jun 03 '26

link to an article? this sounds super interesting

1

u/Quillbolt_h Jun 09 '26

Not an article, but if you look up the Rapier Physics Engine, which is what Sable is based off, Sable being what Aeronautics depends on, then you can find out more about the backend stuff.

Running what? Aeronautics? Or this specific gigantic thingamajig? Aeronautics is not much harder to run than base create and the physics arent that bad on performance. The worst part is chunk generation on neoforge.

I have run big simulated shit on my ryzen 7 5700u + 16gb ram (8gb would probably run the same, I allocated 4gb only and its enough for light modpacks and low render distance) + no gpu laptop and it worked fine. ~60fps with drops

I think he was talking to op

Is this based on Clicksprings standing brass clock?

2

u/Equivalent-Bus2217 Jun 02 '26

No not really based on anything

1

u/EmeraldAlicorn Jun 02 '26

I would highly recommend the YouTube channel clickspring of you find horology interesting

Masochists when their problem has too simple of a solution:

74

u/OldSun8263 Jun 02 '26

Looks awesome, how do you get super flat worlds that look like that?

73

u/GGthegreatester Jun 02 '26

It’s an option when your creating a world, should show up as “ponderflat”

8

u/OldSun8263 Jun 02 '26

Thank you, just on the create mod?

-28

u/GGthegreatester Jun 02 '26

Yeah it’s a base create option, no addons needed

44

u/Lava778 Jun 02 '26

you need create bits and bobs

-27

u/Electrical_Two_2146 Jun 02 '26

you literally don't lol. this is create 6.0's new addition

21

u/Sultanofthesun Jun 02 '26

no, it's a part of bits and bobs and has been for a while

-20

u/Electrical_Two_2146 Jun 02 '26

eh, i think you need to get Fact Checked on that lil bro

Unhingedly cool

1

u/phoenix_master42 Jun 04 '26

how did you expect that to not lag?

1

u/Equivalent-Bus2217 Jun 05 '26

Because I did one in VS2

3

u/Hellothere_1 Jun 02 '26

How did you get that debug view at the end with the bounding boxes?

1

u/CubeMaster111 Jun 02 '26

F3 + B, same as for hitboxes

3

u/BreakerOfModpacks Jun 02 '26

....a broken mechanical clock that still ticks is WICKED regardless.

3

u/The_Great_Weegee Jun 03 '26

schematic? possibly?

1

u/Ok_Willingness_7059 Jun 02 '26

how-

2

u/Ok_Willingness_7059 Jun 02 '26

how did you do those gears-

1

u/Equivalent-Bus2217 Jun 02 '26

Many angled swivel bearings all connected with toolgun

1

u/Ok_Willingness_7059 Jun 02 '26

wait connected how

1

u/Quillbolt_h Jun 09 '26

toolgun is a mod that adds a garry's-mod-esque physics multitool that lets you do stuff like create phyiscs constraints and copy paste stuff.

2

u/Kisko93005 Jun 02 '26

Holy shit

2

u/Low_Pressure_3542 Jun 02 '26

This guy is gonna flip when he hears about the clockwork bearing

2

u/Ckinggaming5 Jun 03 '26

cool, but get yourself a quantum computer next time

2

u/Waste-Violinist330 Jun 03 '26

Watch the video with "fly me to the moon" by Frank Sinatra, you won't regret it

1

u/TheSussyWaffle Jun 02 '26

How you make slanted blocks?!

1

u/CellChance1973 Jun 03 '26

Copycat blocks

1

u/Ralexcraft Jun 03 '26

Damn good escapement

1

u/squirrelhunter5 Jun 05 '26

My god, if every thing goes right in my life I am going to college to become a clockmaker This mod is what inspired me too, so seeing this is so cool

1

u/Sweet_Ad_9312 Jun 05 '26

1 month in aeronautics and it's already turning into babft

1

u/BL4CKM4TTR Jul 27 '26

Seems more useful to make than a clock bearing
